My first What’s Up Wednesday of the new year! This January seems to be lasting for forever. Anybody else? I’m craving warmer weather, and time spent outside in the garden and walks with my little man.
I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
January and February are my busiest months at work. Dinner time is all about easy, easy, easy.
- Sunday: Carne asada tacos
- Tuesday: Pulled pork leftovers from my birthday dinner at my parents’ house!
- Wednesday: Maybe leftovers
- Thursday: Baked potato bar
- Friday: Out to eat
- Saturday: Date night!
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Warm weather. And gardens that are full of flowers and greenery.
And pool time with Evie and Harrison. It’s always about mid-January that I buy new swimsuits for Harrison and start dreaming about what I’m going to plant in my gardens this spring.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
All of the things that Harrison is telling us lately. I blinked and he became this little boy that has ALL THE THINGS to say, point out, and questions to ask. I do look back at old videos and miss having a little, little boy, but this season of life where things are lovely, and the excitement of a cookie brings him so much joy is pretty darn cool.
We’ve also entered Birthday Season, and we’ve been celebrating so many birthdays lately!
Including celebrating our sweet little niece, Evie, turning 3!
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Trying to keep our super active toddler busy during these shut-in winter months! Spring come soon! We’ve added regular Gymboree into the rotation of activities on the weekends. But aside from running around the house, me working a lot, and birthday parties, we’ve had a very calm January.
Aside from the whole growing another tiny human thing, and already planning so many things for the new little one’s arrival!
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Another month of busy hours and cruddy weather! At some point in January and early February, I just ache for my time outside and more time with my family!
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Planning for springtime gardening! I have a whole new bed I’m hoping to plant on one side of our house that gets a lot of a shade. Most of my gardens get full sun, so a shade garden will be a new challenge to me!
I’ve also been working on lists and lists of things for the new baby, and preparing for our gender reveal!
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
My CHIEFS are in the Super Bowl for the first time in my lifetime!! And I am so excited! And nervous. Oh my goodness, I’m nervous.
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
I finally did it you guys. I finished this book.
And I really loved it. What a classy, strong, confident lady. Truly an inspiration.
And now I’m on to…
One of my friends recommended To Have and To Hold as a “must read” for any soon to be parents. But even as a parent of a one year old with one on the way, I wish I had read this before I had Harrison. I’m barely into it, and find myself thinking, “Exactly.” “Yes. This is so true.” So often.
And I’ve been sucked in deep to Cheer on Netflix.
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I’ve been listening to The Daily podcast most consistently this month. I love the quality of job they do explaining difficult and complex news issues in like 20-25 minutes. I listen to it on my way to work, and it’s the perfect amount of time and so well done.
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
The answer here is, anything that fits. With little baby Lane growing at what seems like an alarming pace, the Belly Band has come out in full force. And not being a huge Belly Band fan (I feel like I’m the only one with that opinion), the maternity jeans found their way out of downstairs storage this past weekend. I’m coming to peace with a short goodbye to most of my clothes for a little while.
My Charlie Hustle “Chiefs” shirt, though is getting the most wear right now!
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Nathan’s work holiday party was re-scheduled to Saturday, so I’m so excited to get some time out with my guy! And Sunday is the SUPER BOWL! GO CHIEFS!!!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
So so so many things to look forward to in February. We have several birthdays, including Nathan’s birthday to celebrate! And we’re going to do our gender reveal with our families in February, and I am so excited to see whether this little one is going to be a little miss or little mr.
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Nothing!
I really liked Becoming too! I especially loved her description of the night she tried to escape from the White House with her daughter. I just started Cheer. I’m not hooked yet, but I want to give it a shot because my daughter loves participating in competitive cheer. Congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family!
Cheer took me a couple of episodes to get in to so keep going! I have such a better appreciation for cheerleading now after watching the show. That’s so awesome that your daughter participated in it!
