What’s Up Wednesday {05.27.20}

The days of May seemed to move faster and faster. At the beginning of this pandemic, days seemed soooo slow. And now, maybe we’ve gotten used to it a bit more – our new routine, spending time outside, or the impending countdown to baby, but May seems to have flown by.

Here’s what our calendar has looked like this May…

It could most aptly be characterized as “didn’t even bother to fill it out.” 🙂

I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

  • Sunday: Cheesy Baked Ziti
  • Monday: Leftovers
  • Tuesday: Pork Chile verde enchiladas
  • Wednesday: Leftovers
  • Thursday: Italian sausages & peppers
  • Friday: Leftovers

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

I feel like most of my reminiscing these days is thinking back to what was life was like at this time last year. The simplicity of being able to go and do everything that we wanted to do!

We’re missing our Splashin’ and Smokin’ Saturdays with Cousin Evie in particular.

These little blondies adore each other, and not being able to play whenever we want is sure making me miss these times!

3. WHAT I’M LOVING:

We installed a new chandelier in our kitchen, and I’m obsessed with how much more light we’re getting now in our kitchen. A little before picture:

And after…

We installed drip irrigation into my side of the house flower beds. Before, I would haul a hose over to the side of the house and stand there and spray water on the flower beds for 10 minutes. I would dread having to water the side beds. Untangling the hose, pulling it halfway across the yard. Now, I just hook up the hose to the end of the drip system, and let it run for 30 minutes or so.

Why did it take me so long to do this???

4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

I’ve been spending every free minute I have outside working on the gardens. Planting my annuals, installing drip irrigation and spreading mulch. I hate spreading mulch. It’s the worst part of it! But it has to be done. Garden tour coming soon, though, for those of you that love to look at flowers and garden design like I do :).

There’s been lots of exploring our backyard. Roly poly hunting and numerous walks around the block with acorn collecting.

We’ve been able to see our Cousin Evie a couple of times. Which has been my absolute favorite to get to watch Harrison and Evie play together. It’s amazing how much even at such a young age they miss each other, and just light up in each other’s company.

Splashin’ this past weekend on our first super hot day of summer.

And countless showings of Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4 with popcorn and spicy wa-wa, of course.

5. WHAT I’M DREADING:

I can honestly say I’m dreading nothing right now. Yay! Does this mean that I’ve entered a stage of acceptance? Don’t get me wrong, though, I miss being able to see and hang out with my people.

6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

Baby prep! Working through all the containers of baby stuff in our basement. Washing, cleaning, bringing it up out of storage.

Figuring out what we want/need for baby #2. I’m going to share next week what I’ve purchased for baby #2. Thankfully, it is far less STUFF than the first go around. :). And it helps that so many of our friends have started having babies, so we’re also doing our fair share of borrowing.

7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

I’m really excited about Hamilton coming to Disney+!!!!

I’m also really excited that it’s summer, and I have lots of time off coming up before my maternity leave. I’m looking forward to playing outside, and getting to watch the garden grow.

8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING:

Ooooh, guys. The slowest reader alive, (that’s me if you were unsure), has moved on to a new book!

I’m reading THIS book now!

Anyone else a fan of Little People, Big World on TLC?

As for what we’re watching….I have this on my absolute must watch ASAP list:

And Nathan and I are SO into Billions right now on Showtime…

9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

I’ve been listening a lot to our Thomas Rhett + Eric Church. My go-to’s this time of year. I can tell you one thing, I’ve been listening to a lot less news because it stresses me out. Not like I’m being ignorant by not paying attention to what’s going on – just less 24 hours a day, every story that comes out kind of thing.

10. WHAT I’M WEARING:

A lot of gym shorts, honestly 🙂

The occasional dress…

But most of the time, it’s leggings and a tank top, or gym shorts depending on how much I’m running around after Harrison that day 🙂

11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

We have…drumroll please…nothing planned! Like every other weekend the past two and a half months. I’m sure there will be grilling or smoking, playing outside, and gardening, though.

12. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

I’m just looking forward to summer things. Time outside with my boys enjoying being at home. Watching Harrison grow and play. And I’m excited to celebrate Father’s Day in there too!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

  1. I didn’t fill out our May calendar and my family missed it so much. I have June half filled out — spoiler alert: it’s lots of Zoom meetings and not much else. I am loving all the time we have right now to do yard work and thanks for reminding me that we need mulch! Ha!

Also I am excited about Hamilton coming to Disney+ too. We had tickets to see it for the beginning of May and I’m so sad we had to miss it 🙁

    1. Ah! You will have to see Hamilton live when they start going again! Nathan and I saw it in November during our trip to NYC and it was incredible! I’m so excited to see the original cast, though, in the filmed production!
