Yesterday was the first day of the new “school” year for the boys! They both moved up into different classrooms. This is not as big of a deal for our two year old, Jonathan. But, for Harrison, he has been anticipating this move for MONTHS. He’s officially in the oldest class of the school, Pre-K.
Here’s a look at Harrison just last year on his first day of Preschool:
We’re getting ready to go on a vacation in a few weeks, and I thought it would be fun to share my favorite vacations from the past!
Favorite Childhood Trip: There was a period of time that my family traveled a decent amount. We always stayed in the US. My very favorite trip we took as a kid was to Hawaii, the Big Island, with my grandparents. I remember snorkeling, making the most ridiculous & fun memories sharing a room with my sister, and the whole island just being GORGEOUS. I’d love to go back someday with our family. It feels like so long ago that we went on this trip.
Favorite Couples Trip: Vacations with just Nathan are by far some of my favorite of all time. Home life always has distractions and other pulls at our attention, even when we’re able to get away for a date night. But vacation with Nathan just fills me up to be able to just focus on us and whatever is on our minds. We’ve done trips within the US together, one trip to Spain, and all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean. It’s so ridiculously hard to pick just one favorite Nathan and me vacation, but I think if I was forced to pick just one, I’d choose our trip to Willamette Valley, Oregon.
We went to celebrate our first anniversary. It was both unexpected, but so much fun! We did wine tasting for a couple of days, watched the Royals win the World Series (!!!!!!) where we were the sole Royals fans in the bar, and explored Portland for a few days. It was rainy, beautiful, and just a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary for a long weekend.
Favorite Trip with Kids: I don’t have nearly the same number of trips to choose from with the kids! I imagine there will be a day when we do more traveling with the boys, but for right now, we keep it pretty simple with places that are family friendly, and particularly little kid friendly! By far my favorite trip with the boys thus far was our beach trip we took with my sister and her family last year. We went down to the 30a area in Florida, rented a big house less than a block from the ocean, and had THE BEST TIME.
Since this was post-starting my blog, I wrote about our whole vacation HERE.
Where did you go on your favorite trip of all time?
There is no way I could pick just one favorite trip– they’re all my favorites! LOL. Though one year my husband and I did manage 4 days in WDW without our kids (the older 2 were in pre-k and my youngest was a toddler). My husband had been working in Orlando for 2 weeks and I flew down to meet him at the end of his work trip and it was like a second honeymoon. I remember that trip quite fondly!
Ahhh. That sounds like so much fun! I often wonder what it would be like to enjoy WDW as an adult!
Ahhh! What a fun post. I’d love to get to Oregon one day. My dad’s cousins live on a part of the Oregon trail! My favorite vacay as a family was when we went to Massachusetts, Maine and NH. We went whale watching which was amazing
I’ve always wanted to do a fall or summer trip to the northeast! That sounds amazing!!
Yes! We went in the summer. I’d love to go back
