What’s Up Wednesday (early!) {08.24.22}

This is my favorite post every month. I love sharing and reading about just the everyday things that people are into currently! We’re going to be gone next week on vacation, so I’m sharing my WUW with you early! I just couldn’t miss it.

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK: This week we’re doing homemade pizzas, cheesy sausage pasta florentine, and lemon butter chicken piccata!

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

Reminiscing and enjoying the pictures and videos from Jonathan and Holden’s second birthday party! We all had so much fun celebrating our little COVID babies!

3. WHAT I’M LOVING:

I said last month that this might be life changing

And I’m here to tell you it is. It’s cut my hair drying time in HALF. And is also somehow significantly quieter than my old hair dryer. It was well worth the wait!

At four years old, Harrison has gotten really interested in these NatGeo books for kids. We started with the animal book, and he was obsessed. He loved learning about how big the animals were, how many babies they had, where they lived, etc.

It was honestly so fun to read with him and listen to his questions and just SEE his mind expanding and learning, that I immediately ordered two additional ones. One on SPACE and one on the “why” of things.

4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO: We’ve been spending what feels like every waking hour with the boys sweltering outside in the heat! Not long ago we were lucky enough to have neighbors move next door with little kids around the same age, and they’ve become such good friends!

We also, of course, celebrated our favorite TWO year old’s birthday! Multiple days!

After COVID took so much fun away for us for so long, I am firmly on team celebrate it all. Multiple days of birthday celebrations? Absolutely!

We are close to finishing up our semester of swim lessons for Harrison. Oh my goodness, has it been so much fun watching him improve each week! I mean, he’s practically swimming at this point!

There were splash days at school, and arguments about the height of a new flag pole.

A Sporting KC game AND a Royals game for our big guy!

5. WHAT I’M DREADING: Packing us all up for a big family trip! Packing is the worst. Can we all just agree on that? I’ve got lists on lists. Notes to myself, and reminders in my phone…Hoping that everything that we NEED gets there.

6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON: See above….packing. 🙂

7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT: That being said, that packing sure does lead to some fun times. I’m really excited to be gone for a week with my little family at the beach!

8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING: I’ve been watching all the Bravo. Below Deck Med, Southern Charm, and RHOBH and RHODubai. What are we calling that franchise?! RHOD is already taken with Dallas.

And right now I’m reading by way of listening to The Dictionary of Lost Words. I’ll save my review until my book review.

9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: The rain. I can’t have music or anything playing while I’m writing. My brain can’t focus on what I’m trying to say. But I’m drafting this during a rainstorm, so the sound of rain against the window is what I’m currently listening to right now.

10. WHAT I’M WEARING:

Athleisure….of coure.

11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: We’re flying to one of our favorite places, 30A! For a week at the beach!

12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH: I did very little non-essential ‘Prime-ing” this month. But I did buy a really beautiful flag for our new flagpole. Just so it wouldn’t have to be dressed with that ugly orange flag that my husband insists on flying.

13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH: I’m looking forward to starting some fall decorating and activities! And we have one more little trip planned in September, and soccer for Harrison is back!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

  1. I used to stress so much about packing and then one year my husband looked at me and asked “what’s the big deal? If you forget something we REALLY NEED we can always stop at a store and buy it”… somehow that thinking helped me put packing in perspective. I still make list and try to remember all the things but also remind myself that it’s not the end of the world if I forget something (in fact 2 years running when the kids were really little I forgot to pack any sort of pj’s for myself! I came home with a few new pairs from Target instead.) Hope you have a wonderful time on your beach trip!!
