The end of another month means another What’s Up Wednesday!
How often do I say that this may be my favorite post of the whole month?! I love the little peak into people’s lives.
As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK: We got back from the Lake of the Ozarks Sunday afternoon. I was thankful that I had done my meal planning the week before we left, so I knew what we needed for groceries for the week! I really try to have meals planned out before we go out of town, so I’m not scrambling when we return. It doesn’t always happen, but I’m always thankful if I do have it already done!
We grilled chicken on Sunday and made a tossed salad and corn on the cob.
Then we’re also planning on chicken taquitos this week, which is a household favorite, and very easy pasta with sausage and my favorite seasonal sauce from Trader Joe’s.
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
At the end of September, I feel like with October next week it is truly fall here in the Midwest. And it has me thinking about how fast this summer seemed to fly by. The one summer that the boys were 4 and 2. They were busy. They loved digging in the dirt, playing soccer. Mowing every Saturday was the most exciting thing of the weekend.
I watched their little brotherly relationship really grow this summer. Listened to them tickle fight and eagerly wake each other up in the morning. It was a summer with a lot of good memories for our family. I’m so thankful for that!
3. WHAT I’M LOVING:
My friend in blog world Jen shared that her daughter loves the pumpkin bagels and cream cheese from Trader Joe’s last week, and I grabbed some when I went to the store last week. They are SO GOOD.
Have you stocked up on all of the seasonal goodies yet at Trader Joe’s?
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
We just got back from the lake with friends!
We had such a good time. The boys absolutely loved the lake, and spent all day Saturday floating in the lake.
Harrison started soccer again, and is, as expected, absolutely in love. I’ve never seen a kid love soccer more than him. Every day he comes home asking to play/practice. And I’m very thankful for a husband who plays a LOT with him.
And oh yeah, we went to the beach 🙂 My happy place with my most favorite people.
5. WHAT I’M DREADING:
It’s time for me to pull out my annual plants in my garden. But I think I’m ready for the turnover of the garden to fall. But it’s time to add all the pumpkins to all the things! A little look at last year fall garden…
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON: I’m working on my gardens for fall. Decorating and cleaning up the outdoors to get ready for the winter months.
We also have family pictures coming up this weekend, and I’m rushing around trying to figure out what outfits everyone is going to wear for our short mini session.
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT: I’m so excited for all of the holidays and celebrations that come up at the end of the year! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas! Our anniversary is this upcoming month. Such a fun but busy time!
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING: I did my whole August AND September book review yesterday! It was a slower couple of months for me for reading, but I got a few knocked out.
As for watching, Nathan and I are watching Below Deck Australia and Below Deck Med. Of course, Southern Charm as well. All of the highlights of the Bravo reality TV world.
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: Currently, I’m listening to the sound of the dryer going working through all of the laundry that seems to come with going on a family trip.
10. WHAT I’M WEARING:
Athletic shorts and t-shirts! And not a single picture of my summer uniform all month.
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: We have soccer this weekend and family pictures! But, truthfully, I’m looking forward to a more relaxed weekend. We may need to try to knock something off of our fall bucket list.
12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:
I’ve been eyeing the Hatch Restore alarm clock for more months than I can count for Harrison. When his white noise machine finally bit the dust this month, it seemed like a good time to invest. I LOVE it. It’s his white noise machine and alarm clock that glows and chirps when it’s time to get up during the school week, and it has changed our mornings with Harrison. He’s always been my tough to rouse little boy in the morning, and now he’s actually waking up by himself. Yay!!
13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH: So much!! I’m looking forward to fall weather, decorating for fall. Halloween, of course, with the boys! So much to love about the month of October.
Happy Wednesday, friends!
I look forward to the What’s Up Wednesday posts each month too; it’s so fun to see what everyone has been up to and what they’re eating and reading and watching. I get lots of great ideas from these posts.
Me too! So many good ideas. I think I have a running list of books, TV shows, and recipes to try just from these posts. 🙂
The lake photos are so fun! I love southern charm too! I’m glad you are loving the bagels as much as hadley. I usually have a half as my afternoon snack 🙂
The bagels were a game changer. Now I’m afraid that when I go back this weekend there won’t be any left! I wish I would have listened to you and just gotten two packages to begin with!
I’ve learned my lesson through the years. I actually bought 4 and froze the other three. We’ve already been eating those as well.
Sounds like a fun month! I should check out the alarm clock. I like that it chirps and wakes you up gently. My alarm makes the most awful noise when it goes off and it doesn’t inspire me to get up at all. Have a great rest of the week 😊
That sounds like absolutely no way to get up. 😅😂
I love reading all the What’s Up Wednesday posts too although I haven’t had as much time to read them lately which makes me sad 🙁 I need to start thinking about booking our family photos too. Yikes — I can’t believe it’s that time already.
Those fall family photo spots seem to go so quickly! Our realtor offers these mini sessions in the fall as a promotional event, which I thought was such an awesome idea!
I love this time of year!! Remembering the summer fun but ready for pumpkins and cooler weather. Glad you’re enjoying it all.
It’s already been so nice to be able to be outside some days and not dying from the heat 🥵
