Tuesday Talk – Roadtripping Help Needed!

I need advice. We’ve conquered traveling with Harrison by air. I even wrote about the things I wish I had known before traveling with a toddler by air.

We did roadtrips last year when Harrison was still a teeny tiny baby. And while traveling by car is not my preferred mode of transportation, it’s a necessary evil.

But I need help – traveling with a baby that sleeps 60-70% of the trip is TOTALLY different than hauling a very active, hates to be contained, has a 30-second attention span boy on a 12 hour car ride. So hit me with your best advice! Activities, games, tricks of the trade!

And Nathan and I could use a good roadtrip podcast series too :). So, any good suggestions for podcasts/ways to pass the time – send them my way too!

  1. We once travelled two days down to see my mom and all three of my boys were in car seats ( I can’t remember the exact ages but one of them had to be a toddler!). We used a travel DVD player and stopped periodically along the way to rent & return Redbox movies. I also had a bag of favorite and some new toys that I kept near me so I could pull one out when they got real restless. We kept a small ball in the car and played “catch” on any pitstops; just that little bit of running around periodically helped too.
