It’s Nathan’s birthday today! At a full three years younger than me, he’s turning 33 today. I sat down with Nathan to do a quick interview so you all could get to know him a little better. 😊
When you were younger, what did you think you’d be when you grew up?
N: How young? Um. An athlete.
L: Like a professional athlete? What kind of professional athlete?
N: It varied. Depending on the season. But that was probably the most common answer I’d give as a kid.
L: At what point do you feel like you had to give up your professional athlete dream?
N: Who says I have?
Most favorite place you’ve ever been?
N: #1 is Bramlage Coliseum when K-State beat KU. (For the non-K-State fans, Bramlage is K-State’s basketball fieldhouse.)
#2 Amsterdam
Place you most want to go?
N: What’s the foodie city in Italy? Bologna?
Do you like people to acknowledge that it’s your birthday? Or are you indifferent?
N: I’d prefer the whole world tell my happy birthday. No. I’m indifferent.
Most unexpected thing to come out of fatherhood?
N: How much I love those little boogers. And also my willingness to suck boogers from a kid’s nose.
What are you most excited to observe/watch as the boys grow up?
N: Watching them become dads.
What’s one thing you’re going to miss as the boys get older?
N: I’ll miss the way they mispronounce words and phrases.
Something that most people don’t know about you?
N: That I’m a Denver Broncos fan.
L: Who doesn’t know that? I say that all the time.
N: Ummm. Ok. My first helicopter ride was a life flight.
L: Do you want to explain what a life flight is?
N: Yeah, that’s when they fly you on a helicopter to the hospital because they don’t think an ambulance will get you there fast enough.
What food remind you most of your childhood?
N: Probably something we don’t have anymore. The food I most associate with us being kids is hamburger pie. Or cheesy chicken.
Longest friendship that you still have today?
N: Any of the DU guys. (DU guys are his fraternity brothers.). So 12, 13 years.
What’s one of your pet peeves?
N: You tell me. Shouldn’t you know? I feel like I’m pretty easy going. I feel like you’re really lucky.
L: You don’t like it when I overfill the trash. I would call that a pet peeve. You like having your shirts folded a certain way.
N: That’s not a pet peeve, that’s just common sense.
L: Or your insistence on putting the toilet paper on the wrong way.
N: My pet peeve is when people cut corners. Do it right or don’t do it at all.
Rapid Fire:
Pasta or pizza? Pizza
Hot or cold? Hot
Cocktails or dessert? Cocktails
Comedy or drama? Drama
Movie or dinner date? Dinner date
Happy birthday!! The boys and I love you so much!!
On a blog note: I’m going to try to have at least one blog post next week, but it’s a busy week for me at work, and I’ll be working most of the weekend. So, I’ll see you guys next week whenever I can fit it in! Have a wonderful weekend!
How fun to get to know Nathan!
He kept referring to himself as “the talent” during the interview. 🤣
What a fun interview. Shirt folding as common sense…😂 that’s how Travis is too! I love the thought about kids growing older and not mispronouncing words/phrases. Looking back, that is such a sweet time. Have a great weekend.
I had no idea people cared about shirt folding until meeting Nathan. 😆
OMG when I met Travis 20 years ago, he had one of those shirt folder things that people use to fold shirts in retail stores 😂
Committed to that perfectly folded shirt life. Good for him. 🤣😁
Loved this birthday interview, so fun! I hope you can enjoy some of your weekend without work 😉
For real. At least a little time for some celebration!
That’s fun! I love interview style posts. I think we need more background on that life flight helicopter ride!!
Hahahaha. I asked him if he wanted to expand on the life flight. And he said, “no. Leave the readers wanting more.” 🙄😂
