We’re Expecting a…

First off, I just wanted to thank you for the patience and understanding with needing a quick break! I had one of my clients file on Friday. I left work at noon and got a pedicure to celebrate. It felt like the first true exhale and promise that spring was close at home.

I wanted to share about our gender reveal today!

A few weekends ago, Nathan’s family and my family gathered at my parents house for our big gender reveal. Leading up to the day, I had no time to think about ideas of how we would do the reveal. I had originally planned on hosting everyone at our house for chili, but the weeks leading up to that day turned into a blur of stress, deadlines, and Nathan working super long hours that left me feeling completely depleted emotionally. So my parents volunteered to host instead. And I sheepishly and guiltily accepted because I just couldn’t add another thing to my plate.

Pregnancy: The First Trimester

How We Found Out:  For a very strange reason, both Nathan and I felt like I was probably pregnant. So, we just decided to take the test to just see what it said. Not expecting anything, and sure enough, there it was.  Two pink lines.  As soon as Harrison got up, we told him he was going to be a big brother. He looked at us not really sure what we were saying, and then asked, “Elmo? Elmo?” while pointing to the TV.  Can’t come between Harrison and his Saturday morning Sesame Street.

And so began our journey to baby #2…

What’s Up Wednesday {01.29.20}

My first What’s Up Wednesday of the new year! This January seems to be lasting for forever. Anybody else? I’m craving warmer weather, and time spent outside in the garden and walks with my little man.

I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!

Friday Favorites: BIG news!

Oooooh. I have been waiting for what feels like SO LONG to share this FAVORITE with you. We were so late getting Christmas cards out this year. So late that they became mid-January New Year’s cards. A Day in the Life {Jan 2020}

I love getting a peak into what family’s lives look like on a day to day basis. I marked a couple Thursdays ago in my calendar to document my day from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed. I’ve done one other day in the life last July HERE.

It was a totally ordinary day for us in the Lane house. I usually start my weekdays early…

Up to get ready to go to my workout class at the Bar Method.

All About…Joining the Mommyhood

I’ve written a few installments in my ‘All About’ series.

And today, I’m going to write about what I’ve found since joining the ‘mommy-hood.’

If there’s anything that I’ve learned in the 18 months since becoming a mommy, it’s that no mom’s experience having children, keeping said children alive, and raising them to good little humans, is the same. We struggle with different things. We have different triumphs. But there was one thing that I was really scared about before becoming mom, but I’ve been so pleasantly surprised by.

Joining the mommy-hood has been like joining a sisterhood of women. Women with a shared experience that see you where you’re at, do not judge you, and support you. The women that saw me struggling to juggle a diaper bag, baby carrier, and grocery bags that stopped and asked if they could help bring my cart back to the store. Numerous. The women that checked in on me ceaselessly through the first hard, hard, haaaaaard…did I mention they were hard? weeks of having a newborn and just having no freaking clue which way was up. They were my angels. The women at my work-out classes that I had never talked to before, all of sudden came in like triumphant cheerleaders – willing to offer a suggestion of what diaper cream worked best for them, and encourage me for taking time to do something to better myself.

All About…Pregnancy

I’ve told you all before, but I’m a Timehop addict. And right now, I’ve got pictures popping up on my Timehop of my pregnancy with little Harrison. It’s been two years since finding out I was pregnant with our little guy, and I still think back to that time in my life reflecting on the things I wish I would have known. If I could just go back and tell that younger Lauren Lane, and actually have her believe me and take it to heart, what would I have told her about pregnancy?

At my baby shower with my mom and sister

I would have told her that…
