As soon as Valentine’s Day is over, my mind moves to Easter baskets and birthdays. Harrison’s birthday is always around Easter, so it’s double duty for gift season for us! Whenever I start thinking about Easter baskets, I pick out things that they will need for the spring and summer, replacing well-worn art supplies, and lastly fun little games or toys that are perfect for road trips, as we usually head up to South Dakota to visit my parents over the summer.
Here are the things I’ve picked up for the boys’ Easter baskets so far!
#1 Classic card game pack :: Harrison’s starting to understand some games at Age 3. He loves Go Fish, and I’m sure he’s going to love Old Maid.
#2 Bubbles and Bubble Machine :: Double duty for both of the boys, but nothing cheers up a day like bubbles.
#3 Play Doh :: They likely won’t stay un-mixed for long, but my sensory lover boy will play with playdough for a loooong time. And that’s a win in any parents’ book. $15 is a small price to pay of ruined playdough for that much independent play.
#4 Plastic Eggs :: with candy in them, of course!
#5 Book :: I always gift at least one book for holidays or birthdays. Trying to do my best to keep these boys reading!
#6 Fun Band Aids :: Have you ever seen the amount of band-aids a three year old goes through with seemingly no injuries? Stocking stuffers, Easter basket stuffers….you will find Band-aids, always.
I admittedly need to get a few more things for Baby J’s basket, but this is a good start!
#1 Gardening tools :: Baby J is getting his own set of gardening tools to help out on the garden this year/play in the boys’ dirt pot. I found these at our local garden nursery, and they’re super heavy duty plastic and won’t easily break.
#2 The Crayons Book of Colors :: You see what I said about always getting them books for gifts, right?
#3 Fresh crayons :: Somehow crayons don’t survive very long with a 1 and 3 year old making “beautiful pictures” all the time.
This reminds me so much of the types of things I used to put in my boys’ baskets– and yes band-aids always made the list! LOL. That and I often used Easter as a time to restock bathing suits, goggles, sandals or water shoes, and toys/floats for the lake too. Now that my boys are teens they just a chocolate bunny and some trail mix. I find my teen boys just don’t ever have any ideas for me and I have completely run out of them myself. I’ll make them each a personalized card too, but I think that’s more fun for me than anything they actually care about. My oldest will turn 18 a week or so after Easter and I really need to start thinking about that!
Ahhh. Pool/lake toys and attire is such a good idea! When my sister and I got older, she’d put “good for’s” in our Easter eggs. Good for a pair of sunglasses. Good for a new necklace. That sort of thing 😊. And then we picked it out, she’d pay.
Such sweet baskets for your boys. I miss putting bandaids in their baskets. Hadley used those as a fashion statement 😉
Hahaha. Yesss. A bandaid seems to be required even when there’s no blood and it doesn’t hurt anymore. 😅
Haha so true
