I just realized that Harrison’s birthday is a month away tomorrow. How?? And also, every other year, I have a party theme picked out, invitations picked out and ready to be sent, and probably all of the decorations for the party purchased, too. Last year, COVID came in with one big wallup and there was no birthday party for the invitations I had sent. That two week quarantine to slow the spread turned into a year. Do you ever think about what if you knew then what you know now? Wow.
We’re still not planning a big party for Harrison. I’m hoping we can do a belated third birthday party in the summer when everybody is vaccinated, so he can run and play with his whole family.
In case you were on the fence like I was about spending thirty bucks for a little tub of CREAM, let me save you some time. The reviews are true. The raving about this product is all true. Harrison has struggled for forever with eczema, and while we generally can keep it under control with daily preventative maintenance, when Jonathan started having trouble with baby acne and severe dryness on his cheeks, I finally bit the bullet and bought the thirty dollar tub of cream. After two days, and Jonathan’s skin was crystal clear and hydrated, I wished I hadn’t waited TWO YEARS to buy it. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so cheap…
If you’re also one of those people who can’t stand to pay for shipping, and must reach the minimum order size to not pay for shipping, I also bought their hair shampoo and Dream Cream. Both without fragrance because of Harrison’s super sensitive skin. Here’s a 10% off code if you’ve been on the fence trying it!
I shared a little of Lane Life lately earlier this week, which has included a lot more cousin time. Cousin Evie and Harrison adore each other, and it’s completely precious.
I’ve felt really nostalgic lately thinking about a year ago when the world shut down. One year ago today was the last time I saw my coworkers in person. About a week into working from home, Harrison broke his leg, and we pulled him out of daycare before the end of March.
He was home with both Nathan and me working from home until the end of May. Nathan and I would talk every night about how we were going to split our day. Nathan watched him the first two hours of the morning, then I’d take over at 10 for snack until lunchtime. Then we prayed that he took a good nap after lunch so we could both work.
It still sounds unbelievable. I’m so thankful that both Nathan and I had jobs that allowed us the flexibility to keep Harrison home and safe while we learned more about this virus. Oh my goodness, though, it was hard.
Aunt Ashton came to help us with watching him during the day after several weeks of trying to juggle it by ourselves.
Then he went back to daycare after Memorial Day until the beginning of July, when we all went into full-blown quarantine waiting for Jonathan’s arrival. And Harrison was home with us for the first two months of Jonathan’s life while Nathan worked from our bedroom. He went back to daycare at the beginning of October, and Jonathan joined him at the beginning of January.
A year later, I’m still working from home. Nathan occasionally goes to work in his office. The past year seems unimaginable if I hadn’t lived it.
We’ve taken a lot of family walks lately with a change in the weather. This little cut-out is on our walk every day, and Harrison always asks for his picture. Cutest little leprechaun.
Apparently my Friday Favorites are going partially be “this is what I bought from Trader Joe’s for the first time.” These are delicious. Pop them in the microwave for a minute, and it’s a delicious, quick breakfast. TJ’s does it again.
Happy weekend, friends!
I really need/want to make a TJ run haha. Have a great weekend!
You too, Bri!
I’m glad we didn’t know what the pandemic would mean last year. But taking it in gradually over time has made it bearable.
That leprechaun photo op is adorable!
