Happy Friday, friends! It’s been a busy week around here. I was traveling for work for a few days, which always seems to make the week fly by. I hope you have something fun planned for the weekend!
Can I be really honest with you for a sec? 2020/COVID really kind of burned me out to my very core.
I loved doing special adventuring with, back then, just Harrison and me. It filled me up. I used to be on a flexible work arrangement that allowed me to do something special with Harrison every Friday.
But COVID quarantine, working full time with him home, then having both boys be home, honestly just knocked me on my booty. And in the past year, more often than not, even when I’ve had the option of being able to have the boys at home because I had PTO to use or a holiday, I opted to send them to daycare because I truly have felt like I’m still recovering from the depletion that was 2020.
So when my company gave us an extra holiday day for Memorial Day, I wondered if I should take the boys to an adventure with Mom. I decided at the last minute to go for it. I had been eyeing a u-pick strawberry farm, and thought, what better time? I’m so glad I did because that time with them felt like a blessing. And it’s been a long time where the blessing has felt like it far outweighed the physical and mental toll. For that, I’m so grateful. I don’t know if I feel fully recovered from 2020, but I’m hoping this is a sign that I’m really close.
Harrison’s preschool school year officially ended. I love getting to see how much kids grow during a school year, so had to add one of our little man. My goodness, I just love him so much. All the ways he’s grown this year! But he’s already talking about how when he’s five, he’s going to kindgarten. And guys, I just am not ready.
Just a few from Memorial Day weekend. It was bright and sunny all weekend. We spent all the time outside.
Harrison learned about “finder’s keepers” the other weekend. He found a nickel on the ground of a store. When I told him that he could keep it because we wouldn’t be able to find the original owner, he started looking on the ground for other treasures to find & keep. What I found out was that there’s a lot of trash on the ground of a parking lot that counts as a treasure in a four year old’s eyes.
A pic from my quick trip to Chicago this week. I finally got to meet my coworkers in person after a year in this position. It was a fun, jam packed trip, but I’m happy to be home with my boys again. 🙂
Have a good weekend!
