It seems like it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged just a random Friday Favorites! We’re one week into our potentially three week quarantine waiting for baby Lane #2. A lot of you have asked me over on Instagram why Harrison is home again. So, I thought I’d chat about that here as well.
We sent Harrison back to daycare at the end of May at the recommendation of primarily Harrison’s pediatrician, and my OB agreed that, while a risk, was a low risk to send him back to daycare. My OB also, though, at the same time recommended that Harrison come back out of daycare three weeks before my due date, and join Nathan and I in “quarantine” waiting for baby’s arrival. I think the three week recommendation is based on the guidance from the CDC, but don’t quote me on that!
So given that, and after talking to Harrison’s pediatrician, who also agreed that would be best to ensure that we are at the lowest risks as we can possibly be going into delivery for COVID, Harrison’s staying home with us again from now until some period after baby’s arrival. Initial suggestions from his pediatrician were to keep him at home for at least 4-6 weeks after baby’s arrival to allow the new baby time to build up their immune system. So here we all are again, one big happy, expectant family!
Harrison will dearly miss his school and friends during this time period. I don’t think Nathan or I fully realized all of the wonderful social interactions, lessons, and routine that Harrison was missing being home with two parents working full time and trying to juggle childcare and work! So, that brings me to my first favorite…
Harrison’s very last day at daycare was his Fourth of July party (score!) AND splash day, which is his absolute favorite! These pictures sent by his sweet teachers made me tear up seeing him so happy.
We will certainly miss our daycare for this period of time, but I’m hopeful that this time getting to grow into a family of four will be life-giving and something that I look back on with the fondest of memories.
This one is for my curly girl’s out there. You all know that I’ve been using the Curly Girl Method on my hair for awhile now, but this is my first summer. With the humidity of the Midwest, my winter gel routine was not working. I’d walk outside and the FRIZZ. Oh my. After researching and studying ingredients, I’ve added the Ouidad Advance Climate Control as a third gel for my gel cast, and it’s made all the difference. I just use a little bit mixed with Deva Curl and glaze it over my hair.
This dress is currently being worn…almost every day this last month of pregnancy. I brought it in an extra small. By far the most comfortable thing in my closet right now. Plus side: I love that Vici has an option on their website for bump friendly. This is a non maternity dress, that I’ll be able to wear easily after baby too.
The heat and humidity of a Kansas summer has hit! <Cue feeling like you’re melting stepping out the door in the morning.> How is it that kids seem unbothered by the heat?! The new ice cream shop in our shopping square, though, is keeping this pregnant mama super happy. Not to mention, watching Harrison eat ice cream may be in the top 10 things that bring me joy in life.
A little inspiration for you heading into the weekend…
We are expectantly waiting as an entire world on relief from this terrible virus. And our families are expectantly waiting for two little babies to join the family (my sister’s and our littlest boy – I promise I’m not having twins). It seems like we are all expectantly waiting to exhale again. Wishing you hope and joy this weekend.
That is such a pretty non-maternity dress.
Awww. Thank you. It’s so comfortable and for these last HOT summer weeks, it’s exactly what I need. 😊
