Monday morning was Jonathan’s first day back at daycare after spending the previous week at home with me potty training. Guys, I felt ALMOST as nervous as the day I dropped off Harrison at daycare for the first time. Would they pay attention to his cues enough? Would he be successful? (Because I so badly wanted him to have an awesome day & week showing off his new skill!) I checked my daycare app about twenty times that day. And he did awesome. So relieved! It wasn’t perfect, but so, so, so good. Whew.
I rounded up a lot of family favorites from the past few weeks to share today!
I had so much fun going pumpkin patchin’ with the boys and their cousins a couple of weeks ago! It’s truly one of my favorite days of the year. Trying to take a picture of two, much less four kids together is pretty much impossible at this age. So I offer up some very bad group kids pics. 🙂
This weekend rounds out another season for the Winged Bears! Harrison truly loves soccer. It’s so clearly a passion and thing for him, and it’s been that way since he could essentially walk. If there is anything on the floor….toy, clothes, shoe, etc…..he is kicking it around the house. It drives me crazy. But it’s so innately a part of him in a way I can’t really describe. Love watching him do something he loves!
Given the horrific pumpkin patch pictures, anytime we get a good family picture, that should surely be celebrated. Here we all are! Just before Nathan and I headed out to a date night to celebrate our anniversary.
We went to see Top Gun: Maverick. We are about three months late, and aside from seeing Minions with Harrison a few months ago, this was our first movie theater movie in at least two years….and as EVERYONE said…it was SO GOOD. And honestly that’s shocking for me to say, because since TV series have become so cinematically advanced and the plotlines so interesting, I rarely like a movie as much as a really good TV show.
Did you hear that we’re doing a basement project? Nathan is putting in a “soccer field/playroom/heavily padded kid safe room” in our basement. And it is MOVING. The sub-floor, the walls are up, and there are two really cute helpers that are very eager to participate at all times.
We checked off another item on our fall bucket list this past weekend making pumpkin donuts! This is the recipe we use, and then I use a maple icing glaze instead of the cinnamon sugar suggested in the recipe. I feel like donuts are just better with icing and sprinkles.
Have a great weekend!
I feel like donuts are better with sprinkles and frosting too. Really, just about anything is! LOL. That is a fabulous family photo. My boys and their cousins are all about the same age so we have many horrible group shots just like your pumpkin patch one and they are so fun to look back on and laugh over. In one of the cousins Christmas photos I’m thinking of we have 1 kid pouting, one throwing a full on tantrum, two smiling for all it’s worth like nothing is amiss and at least one kid is staring at the tantrum kid with a bewildered expression. It really is funny and we love to tease them now that they’re all teens.
Hahahaha. I love that! Getting them all to be happy, smile and look the same way at the same time seems to be a thing of dreams right now. So we take what we can get. 😂
I LOVE the family photo (& the pumpkin patch pics too!) Those donuts look amazing. The boys will love the basement room. How fun. I hope you have a great weekend.
The donuts are 💯. I only regretted feeding my kids cake for breakfast on a Saturday morning like five times, though. 🤪
Haha!
Your pumpkin doughnuts turned out so good!! Glad you joined the rest of us to enjoy Top Gun Maverick!! Haha.
That movie was soooo good. I guess you all were right! 🤣
Those donuts!!!!! And of course your boys are adorable, as usual.
I’m glad to hear Harrison did so well at daycare! I work at a preschool and every year we start with some preschoolers getting the hang of potty training. We try so hard to make sure they have every opportunity to go potty and give them lots of praise. The kids soon get a hang of it but it can be a stressful time for the parents. My family is all grown up and we still can’t manage a decent photo very often! Haha
Daycare and preschool teachers are some of the most patient people ever. So very thankful for people like you!
