Jonathan is ONE!

My sweet little Jonathan Brooks turned ONE, and last weekend, we celebrated as a family our baby boy! I was determined to have a real party, with a theme to celebrate our littlest Lane.

We originally set out to celebrate both cousin Holden & Jonathan’s birthdays together…

But my sister decided to cancel having Holden’s at the same time at the last minute due to some other time consuming things going on in their lives.

So, we just celebrated baby J!

Here’s a look at the decor…

This ONE balloon has been used at all of the kids’ first birthdays in our family so far. That’s a lot of bang for your buck.

I baked Jonathan’s smash cake and cupcakes, so don’t look too closely at that icing job. Decorated with our “farm animal” toys that we already had around the house.

I went into my garden, and cut anything that was happy and colorful, and ‘farm fresh’ 😊. I saved some recent glass jars from cooking, and used them as my vases.

A bought a monthly banner from Etsy to display Jonathan’s monthly photos, because, you all know the craft genes are non-existent in me. Why sweat about the crafts, when you can buy the cutest banner off of Etsy and support a small business in the process?

And the other half of the banner…

And conveniently, my parents have had this cute John Deere kid tractor my whole life (it was my Dad’s when he was growing up), but it made for the perfect photo opp prop for the party!

Our little guy is just learning to walk, and how cute is this shirt I bought off of Etsy for him from one of my favorite shops??

We had ‘farm-fresh’ pigs-in-a-blanket, cherries, carrots, and pulled pork sliders with BBQ pulled pork from one of our favorite KC BBQ restaurants, Joe’s KC.

YUM! Harrison was particularly found of the pigs-in-a-blanket.

And then, of course, it was time for the CAKE!

Jonathan was anything but shy about getting dirty.

There were a few presents to open, which Harrison promptly took to the playroom and put to good use (that’s what older brothers are for, right?)

Love you so much, baby J.

  1. Great job on that party, mom! Looks like fun was had by all, and the smiles on the birthday boy are the icing on the cake!
