I took last week off blogging, and I hadn’t really intended it. I had ideas about posts written down, but I try to be very intentional about where I spend my time. Baby J came home on Wednesday afternoon sick and he ran a 101-102 degree temperature for five days. Poor little guy was whiny, exhausted, and just so not himself. So with a baby at home during work days, and the beautiful weather outside this past weekend for gardening, something had to give. That was writing blog posts last week.
I hope you all had a great week! Baby J is on the mend, and back at school.
MAKING: Very little. We’ve been the fortunate beneficiary of the last few weeks before my parents head up to their South Dakota cabin to get a lot of food from them. Ribs, brisket! And we went to our very first restaurant post-COVID the past week. J’s very first restaurant experience ever at nine months old! He got the hang of it in no time, and both Harrison and J liked the people watching and different atmosphere.
WEARING: Our weather has been up and down this spring. One week will be chilly, and I’m wearing my spring sweaters and sweatshirts all week like this new lightweight sweatshirt from aerie…
And the next I’m wearing a t-shirt and gym shorts. Flipping our thermostat between heat and cool and the reg. Does anyone else do that?
LOVING: We’re currently living in a construction zone, having our entire first floor painted. I don’t love the living in a construction zone, but I do love being able to have people come and knock it out in a little over a week! It would have taken us at least a month. I’m excited for some fresh paint on the walls. We’d changed very little in our house since moving in back in 2014.
Last year, in the middle of COVID, Nathan’s sister, Ashton, and I re-did Harrison’s big-boy room before baby brother arrived.
And pre-blogging, we re-did our master bedroom and the nursery…but that’s been the only fresh paint in the house for the past seven years. So I am excited for a fresh start!
We’re also loving eating on the patio this spring before the weather gets too hot and buggy in June.
Tomorrow as part of “Let’s Look,” I’m sharing a tour of our patio and our outdoor organization. This is my very favorite place to be in the spring.
USING: A LOT of potting soil. At least half of my spring planting is planting up pots for our patio and around our front. I love pots because I can change out the flowers every year: try different color combos, different flowers. And they’re easier to design than a giant flower bed. A smaller canvas to play with…
My backyard chickadee family has also been USING one of my birdhouses. And I’ve been watching these sweet little babies grow the past week or so. Mom and Dad Chickadee have been very busy feeding so many little mouths in here.
And I have a little house wren building a nest in my new birdhouse in my garden…
DRINKING: Aside from water, I’ve been trying out these new to me La Croix flavors, like
Guava! It’s delicious!
And my favorite spring beer is out right now…
Freestate Brewing’s Helles Bock. I missed last year being pregnant in the spring the joy of working outside in the yard and garden all day, and then enjoying one of these on the patio. And it does bring me SO MUCH JOY
ENJOYING: Sweet little boys
Days spent outside with my family and playing in the garden…
What have you all been up to??
I’m glad Jonathan is feeling better. That had to have been such a difficult few days …with such a high fever. Your flowers look amazing! I lm hoping to pot some flowers today.
It’s amazing how days feel so long when your kids are sick.
I can’t wait to see your flowers!
Hadleys croup would always kick in during the middle of the night which was so scary…and a few middle of the night ER visits through the years. Thankfully, she out grew that as she got older
