Lauren’s Top 3 Books of 2021

I became a reader again last year. Thanks to my, albeit very late, discovery of audiobooks, the second half of my year was FULL of reading. Books that I thought I’d never have time to get through before, that I had had on my reading list for years. I wrote a whole post about how I became a reader HERE.

This year, I listened to 21 books. 20 of those books I reviewed here on my blog. Here’s some links back to past book reviews:

I took a look back at all of the books I read this past year, and came up with my top three favorite books of the year. When I actually sat down to try to rank them, this was a really hard task! I can’t imagine how hard it will be once I’ve read books for an entire year!

In third place…

3. The Last Thing He Told Me

This was such an easy listen/read. It had me engaged from the very first chapter, wondering where the main character’s husband had disappeared to and why!? I flew through it and loved it until the very last page. If you’ve wanting an easy page turner, this was an excellent one!

In second place…

2. Greenlights

The book that started my whole audiobook journey! Matthew McConaughey’s storytelling is top-notch. You’ll laugh out loud at the absurdity of the some of the stories in the book from his life. You’ll find yourself pondering and reflecting on things you had never considered before. I strongly recommend the audiobook version read by him. It’s fantastic!

And my number one book this year was…

  1. Bad Blood

I’ve always been casually interested in Silicon Valley startups. This investigative reporting book on the start-up of blood testing company Theranos was so well investigated and written. It gave the nerdy, journalistic nut in me everything I loved about in depth news investigations and how this start-up operated. Made even more interesting that the founder of Theranos is currently standing trial for fraud related to the Company. So so so good!

Ok, tell me, did your favorite make my 2021 list? What didn’t I read this year that needs to be added to my list for 2022??
