Once a month, I link up with two of my favorite blogs (Shay @ Mix and Match Mama and Erika @ A Little Bit of Everything), to share a “look” into some little aspect of our life.
- In January, we looked at our bedside table
- In February, we looked at our winter wardrobe
- In March, we looked at what’s inside our purse
This month, we’re talking about how we do Easter at Our House.
We haven’t gotten into a good “Easter” tradition at our house for several reasons. One is that Harrison’s birthday is April 13th. And he didn’t have his first Easter until last year, when he was just over one. The year he was born, Easter was really early at the end of March, so he missed it completely! All of that is to say, our only “normal” Easter with Harrison was last year. Historically, we go to Easter morning church service, and brunch with family. We didn’t do much with the Easter bunny last year, so it wasn’t really a set-up for what I think our Easters will be like in the future.
Then, this year, we had big plans to do church with my family and an egg hunt in their backyard for the cousins, and theeeeen…COVID-19. So we’re contingency planning, in addition to the fact that Easter is the day before Harrison’s 2nd birthday!
So, I’m going to talk about what we’re planning for Harrison’s first true, big Easter! The Easter bunny will come and hide a few Easter baskets for him to find. He’s really getting into hide-and-seek lately, so I have no doubt that he’s going to love finding Easter baskets!
We’ll do Easter church online – maybe I’ll even get Harrison dressed up in his Easter clothes rather than our current normal Sunday best of sweatpants and a pajama shirt. 🙂
And I have planned a bit of a special breakfast at home. We’re going to make egg-free pancakes. I don’t think I’ve ever shared here that Harrison has an egg allergy. So a LOT of breakfast foods for him are off limits – including normal pancakes because they have eggs added into them. And we’ll probably throw in some fruit and sausage in with that to celebrate!
Next year, we’ll be doing Easter with two little ones! Maybe we’ll give egg dying a shot!
You just reminded me that my step-father and father-in-law have birthdays coming up this weekend! Aack! I was so focused on our back up Easter plans that I forgot to make them cards or order their gifts.
I think everyone’s minds have been elsewhere lately! You’re not alone!
