It’s that time of year where I start re-stocking my pool bag in preparation for the summer months ahead. Here’s a peek of my must-haves in my pool bag every year!
Pool bag: When carrying towels, snacks, and toys for four people, a massive pool bag is a must. This one is going on year 2 at the Lane household and has held up perfectly to the wear and tear of being hauled and dragged over concrete at the pool.
Sunscreen: You know what’s the most painful part of getting to the pool? Getting the sunscreen on the kids. I always, always, always try to put sunscreen on the boys before heading out the door to the pool, so that way they can jump right in as soon as we get to there! Stick sunscreen is one of the greatest parent friendly inventions in this day and age for their little faces. This spray sunscreen smells incredible, and I’ve loved the past few years!
Goggles: Have quickly become a kid must have at the pool to find their treasures on the bottom of the pool. These come in a two pack with a carrying case. All the better to not be upset at one pair being left at the pool at some point this season. 😊
Wet/Dry bags: They’re a must in my opinion to have a couple stashed in my pool bag. For the littlest guy, I stick a diaper, wipes, and his dry change of clothes in there, and then when we leave the pool and change him, switch it out to his wet swim trunks and swim shirt.
Pool toys: I order a set of pool toys every year, and pitch the previous year’s set in the trash in the fall. They’re cheap and not meant to last for years, and I expect to not have them all by the end of the season with a few getting left behind on trips.
Beach towels: If there’s anything in our beach bag that I’m a bit snobby about, it’s the beach towels. I accidentally ran across the XL beach towels from Target YEARS ago. Like pre-kids, and pre-Nathan, and fell in love. They’re big enough to cover the whole pool chair, and such good quality, they last for years without fading.
Pool shoes: We’ve loved Natives as our pool shoes for years. Quick slip ons that clean easily are a must! The boys wear them outside to play in the summer, to help me water my plants, and to the pool. They’re a Lane family favorite!
Snacks: You know what the pool was meant for? Snacks. It’s the best part of the whole adventure. I pack some applesauce pouches and chips for each of the boys in one of these pouches.
Yep, we almost always have multiple bags for the 5 of us! Thankfully I don’t need toys anymore but goggles, towels, sunscreen, and snacks are a must.
Some day I will get to downsize my pool bag, because the boys will carry things for themselves. Ha!
Yes, I love all of those things. We have those rockets too and the boys love diving down to find them. I like turkish towels too because they fold up smaller and dry so fast.
Ooooh. Turkish towels. Now I need to go do some research. I’ve never heard of Turkish towels!
