Landscape by Lauren: A Little Dream.

I’ve had a little dream for a long time. If you’ve been here any amount of time, you don’t have to spend much time on my blog to realize that I love gardening. Flowers and creating beautiful landscapes has been my happy place for a long time.

Nathan and I have transformed our little backyard from this…

to this…

And I can’t tell you the joy that walking outside each morning to this outside home has brought me over the years. I’ve decided to take my love and all the things I’ve learned over the past ten years to help other families with their landscaping.

And Landscape by Lauren was born. I am so excited to help friends all over the US plan their gardens and landscape and create their outside home. Right now, garden and landscape planning and consultation can all be done virtually. We’ll work to pick the right plants for your home, location, and amount of maintenance required to create a garden of your dreams.

If you’re local to Kansas City, there will also be an optional add-on service to your landscape planning of in-person plant selection with you at a local garden nursery! And if you’re not ready to do a full-blown garden, I’m also going to offer custom container plantings at your home or business for those in Kansas City.

Now is the perfect time to start dreaming and planning for the spring. It’s just around the corner. I can’t wait to hear what you have in mind for your next garden project!

July Garden Update

Watching the garden grow in the summer brings me endless joy. I love seeing how things play well together, making mental notes to myself on the color combinations used. Dare I say that this may be my favorite year YET. I went out at the beginning of July and took some pictures of the gardens to share!

I’m going to share the June picture followed by the July picture, because I always thinks it’s so amazing to see how things fill in during such a short period of time.

Friday Favorites {10.18.19}

Today is our fifth anniversary!

I wrote a little post reflecting on what I’ve learned in our first five years of marriage yesterday here. We’re going out tonight to celebrate, but our real celebration is a trip away just the two of us in about a month. It’s going to be so much fun, while also missing my little man like crazy. But I think it’s so important to have one on one time with your partner, so I’m really looking forward to a few days away with my guy. Having no agenda, eating amazing food, and just soaking up good conversations and dreaming with him.

But, today is a FRIDAY FAVORITES post! A couple of weeks ago, Harrison helped me plant up my fall plants. So I wanted to give you a little tour of our outdoors right now, decked out in some fall decor! I love some fresh plants and pumpkins to give our house a refresh come September and October. I don’t go as overboard in the fall as I do for the summer with plants. I just do a few things here and there, so it’s totally manageable and easy to do.

Friday Favorites: Stunning Garden Performers and Duds {09.06.19}

One of the hardest parts about the beginning of fall for me is taking out the annual plants in my garden. I always have the best of intentions of taking pictures of everything so that I can keep track of what really took to its growing spot and exploded, versus performed average to sad, sad underperformers so I never buy them again.

Sadly, I so rarely remember to take pictures, and then I end up repeating some of the same mistakes as the last year….BUT, not this year. I put this topic on my blogging calendar, which means I’m actually going to stick to it. So here it is – my favorite garden performers this year:

THE Patio Tour

THE Patio Tour

Three years in the making. That’s how long Nathan has been working on the patio. Our backyard started with a screened in porch and a tiny semi-circle patio right off the porch. And now, we have an entire additional outdoor ROOM to enjoy.

I just want to take a minute to brag on my guy. Ya’ll. He designed this patio expansion – the whole thing, which is impressive as is. And THEN, he (with the help of his dad) BUILT 85% of it. What happened with the last 15%, you ask? Harrison Thomas Lane entered our life, and somehow, there was no such thing as free time anymore. Free time. What’s that again?

But first, the before pictures:

Friday Favorites – In Bloom

I’m linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea and sharing my Friday Favorites of flowers in bloom around my gardens.

In the Midwest, this is the time of year when some of my spectacular spring plants are really starting to wear away in the real heat and humidity of a Kansas City summer. What’s interesting, though, is that there are plants that kind of hang out all spring, and then REALLY gear up in this deathly heat. Here are some favorites around the garden right now:
