I shared our Part 1 of our Black Hills trip yesterday, and today I’m wrapping up the latter half of our trip.
We decided to keep our activity the next day pretty low key. We headed to a playground in Spearfish that ended up being amazing for all of the kids. It was great for running around and playing hide and seek, and there was a place along the stream that the kids could dip their toes in the freezing cold water.
How baby J felt about the cold water…
The little boys took less than an ideal nap after lunchtime, so they were both up and snacking early while the big kids napped.
We spent the evening around the cabin, the kids playing outside…
It was the Robbins’ last day, so we took it easy while they packed up the car for the big drive home the following day.
Our last day at the cabin, we decided to do another hike on the Mickelson trail with the boys.
Looking for fish in the stream below.
After naps, we fed the deer one last time at the cabin.
And we spent the evening getting ourselves packed up, making sandwiches for the road for the next morning…
Our last night with bedtime stories by Mimi…
Then it was back on the road to head home. They did great on the trip back, and we made it back in only twelve hours! A record I’m sure we won’t repeat for many, many years to come…
Looks like an amazing trip! I LOVE the family photo in the yellow swing. Precious! (& good to recreate through the years 🙂
Oh you’re so right! I will have to remember to do a family picture at that swing next year too!
