What’s Up Wednesday {02.26.20}

The end is in sight for the end of busy season! If you’ve been following along here, you know that I work full time in the accounting field, and our busiest time of the year during January and February. And the end is ALMOST HERE! Which means, spring is just around the corner! Time for walks outside, planting season and trips to the garden center, and more time with my sweet little man.

I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

  • Sunday: Nathan made burgers this weekend – one of my absolute favorite things that he makes in the whole world. So we did leftovers on Sunday.
  • Tuesday: Chicken taquitos
  • Wednesday: Leftovers
  • Thursday: Potato soup
  • Friday: Leftovers
  • Saturday: Out to eat!

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

Our gender reveal last weekend!

The last time when we found out the gender, I still just felt so disconnected from the little one growing inside of me. Fear still completely overtook much of the joy in expecting the little boy that was Harrison.

This time around, there’s a little less fear, and so much more excitement! If you want to read about our gender reveal, you can do that HERE.

3: WHAT I’M LOVING:

Harrison asking for hugs and kisses lately. And wanting to be rocked and sang Rock-a-Bye-Baby. There’s nothing that makes my heart melt and remember how worth all of the pregnancy hormones are than moments like that. It’s the sweet little reminders that it feels like God drops in my lap when I need it the absolute most.

The best candy of the YEAR is out….

Reese’s eggs. Hope my doctor is prepared for me to add a couple more pounds this month and next leading up to Easter. 🙂

4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

The best word: surviving. Nathan has been so busy at work. I’ve been busy. And pregnancy hormones. My goodness. We are surviving. We’ve been spending our weekends going to Gymboree and on smoothie runs.

We’ve celebrated my Mom’s birthday and Nathan’s birthday, and had our gender reveal party. We’ve had lots of nights coloring while listening to Nathan play guitar.

And visited Nathan at his new office, which Harrison is very pleased has a basketball hoop and lots of space to run the halls.

It’s been a very busy February!

5: WHAT I’M DREADING:

Dreading isn’t the right word. But if we’re going to be real honest, the fact that there is still almost four more months of pregnancy left. I am trying to enjoy it. It very realistically could be my last, but between everyday life stuff, the pregnancy bit has me teetering on the edge most days between sadness and loneliness and just feeling a very average fine but not myself and tired.

The more of my friends that I’ve talked to about how I’m feeling, the more of them have agreed that they know exactly what I’m feeling. I just don’t feel like many people talk about it. There are people that LOVE pregnancy. And they truly seem to sail through pregnancy beautifully, feeling completely fulfilled in their body changing and adapting to growing a human being inside of it, fulfilled with their family and work – and man, I wish I was one of those people. But I just struggle. There is something mentally just off the entire time for me, and it makes so many things harder emotionally.

6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

We’re planning a very minor kitchen remodel this spring. Fresh paint, blinds, and lights. Nothing too crazy! It’s the one room of the house left that doesn’t really reflect our style, so we’re finally after five years getting around to changing it up just a bit to brighten it up! So, I’ve only looked at like a million different samples of things. And just like any other house project, it takes me foooorever to pick anything out. Sample #5 & #6 of blind options will be arriving at the house later this week. Hopefully, I can have it all picked out before we’re up next on our painter’s list!

7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

SPRING. This weekend, the weather topped out in the 60’s, and it has left me with major spring fever. A month ago I was excited about spring, so I guess things don’t change too much. 🙂

8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

And I’m still reading this book…

To Have and To Hold. Still liking it. Will still be reading it for the next few months probably. #slowestreaderalive

Nathan and I started watching McMillions on HBO, and are REALLY enjoying it. Fascinating story of how fraud was committed for years in the McDonald’s monopoly game.

9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

Currently, the sound of Harrison rolling around in his crib having just woken up from nap.

10: WHAT I’M WEARING:

I’m still wearing all of my winter sweaters. I did an entire post on my go-tons in my winter wardrobe HERE.

11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:

Twice a year, my sister and I go to a massive consignment sale, and buy all of the clothes, shoes, toys, and gear that we’re going to need for our kiddos for the next six months. It’s like a five plus hour shopping spree. But that’s coming up this weekend!

12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

We don’t have much planned for March right now. But March leads to April, with Easter and Harrison’s birthday. And then it’s pretty much spring planting season!

13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

Nothing!

  1. I didn’t love being pregnant either — especially the second time. I felt like I was surviving pregnancy rather than enjoying it. I found it was so much harder being pregnant with a toddler. Fist bump to you — you can do it!
