The days of June have come and gone so quickly! I knew that things would really feel like they were speeding up as we head into the home stretch before meeting our newest baby boy! July is already baby month! Or at least, we think so. I guess if he decides to be very late, we could end up with an August baby as well. Harrison was two days past his due date, and right or wrong, I’ve got it in my head that I’m going to have the full forty weeks before this little one arrives too.
Tell me – did your babies arrive early, on time, or late?? Were second babies more on time or earlier than first babies??
I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
- Sunday: For Father’s Day, we’re going to do take out from a local restaurant!
- Monday: Leftovers
- Tuesday: Salmon & sautéed spinach
- Wednesday: Chicken nuggets and Mac & cheese – Nathan has insisted from the first day that we were dating that Mac and cheese must be served with chicken nuggets. I’m guessing that combo reminds him of his childhood
- Thursday: Leftovers
- Friday: Carne asada tacos
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Preparing for this newest little Lane boy has me super reminiscent of the early days of bringing Harrison’s light into this world.
I know it’s going to hard. Physically and emotionally in ways that we don’t understand yet and will be different from little Harrison. But I also know how much joy and happiness this little guy has brought us in just two short years, that I’m so looking forward to adding to our family.
3. WHAT I’M LOVING:
Aside from elastic waist band pants, I’m loving getting to watch and tend to the garden so closely because I’m still working from home.
The oak leaf hydrangeas are about to bloom…
And then Nathan has been working on a little outside project. I’ve got to get the ok to show the whole thing to you, but they did involve building me two new planters. And if there are new planters, you know I’m ecstatic about it already.
I’m also currently loving our DynaTrap.
I don’t like to use pesticides and the traditional mosquito spray services on our yard to treat it for mosquitos because those chemicals usually kill a lot of the good bugs and pollinators. This is our second full season with the DynaTrap, and I really feel like our DynaTrap cuts down significantly on the mosquitos in our yard. I usually only end up with a handful of bites by the end of the season, but when I go to a friend’s house and forget bug spray, I’ll come home with a couple of bites just from one evening.
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
I always have to go back and look at my phone’s pictures to figure out what I’ve done the past month to answer this question.
Our June has been the most normal since the beginning of quarantine. Harrison went back to daycare just after Memorial Day.
He’s been having the BEST time with his new teachers and his best buds, JJ and Graham. He comes home happy every single day, and I am so thankful for a wonderful daycare that loves this energetic boy and challenges him.
Nathan and I are still working from home primarily. Nathan spends about 50% of his time back in the office now, but with very few other people. Usually only 2-3 people on any given day. My company still has a work from home order for the entire country.
I’ve been tending my gardens and loving watching things grow. And also doing battle with squirrels over my flowers this year….
I’m going to do a garden tour on Friday of our garden path that I filmed a couple of weeks ago!
Aside from that, Nathan started and finished a backyard project that I can’t wait to show you some pictures from! And my sister in law and I spent a week working on painting Harrison’s new big boy room. Now just to organize it!
Aside from that, there’s been lots of ice cream, water fun, and a few special visits to our Gigi and Pops for a change of scenery.
5. WHAT I’M DREADING:
Not sleeping. And juggling a 2 year old and a newborn at home. Harrison is going to come out of daycare at the recommendation of his doctor just before the baby and for some period after to ensure that we are at the lowest risk possible as a family for being COVID positive. And let me tell you, I. Am. Nervous.
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
Getting Harrison’s new room ready and moving over all of his things to his new room, so that I can finally get the rest of the baby stuff set up in our house!
Harrison’s transitioning to a big boy bed and all, so I’m crossing my fingers that he handles it like a champ! Although, it’s a bit bittersweet to have my first baby moving out of his crib.
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
I’m also super excited about that new little guy joining us at the end of July. Like super excited. 🙂
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING:
I finished THIS book over the past month. I know. It’s crazy. I’ve only been reading it for a month versus a year, and I’m already done. Really enjoyed most of it!
And now I’ve moved on to reading this…
As for what we’re watching, Toy Story 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Frozen…and we’re also keeping up with Billions on Showtime as our “adult” show of the moment. We tend to watch less TV during the summer months because we’re spending so much more time outside.
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Kip Moore’s new album is playing on repeat on our patio…
10. WHAT I’M WEARING:
A whole lot of gym shorts still. God bless working from home. The occasional dress gets thrown in there too to keep life interesting…
God bless the popularity of athleisure wear. Shorts are old from Athleta, but their new version of the same short is so cute, and I may have to buy another pair because I absolutely love these shorts both pregnant and after baby comes. T-shirt is just Old Navy’s basic maternity tee.
Maxi dress is an old maternity maxi from Old Navy.
Ahhh…and here is my every day look of gym shorts and a tank top.
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Like just about every weekend now, we have nothing planned.
12. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Next month is BABY MONTH! Woah.
Happy Wednesday, friends!
What a super cute bump. Yay for baby month! Maybe lol
Thank you!! Can’t believe it’s almost here!
My first was over a week late, my second was over a week early, and my third was right around his due date! You just never can tell. My boys were all born just under 2 years apart (well, each set anyway, in total they are just under 4 years apart) and you are right that it was tough but I would definitely do it all again in a heartbeat. It has been great having them all close enough in age that they share interests. Best of luck to you!!
You’re a superhero! I’m praying that my boys end up being close and able to play together and enjoy similar things. 🤞🏼
Your zinnias look amazing! I am waiting for mine to start thriving. They’re still short little things 🙁
My first baby was born 6 hours after his due date and my second baby was four days (or a week) late, depending on which due date you thought was right. It was hard that my second one was “so late” because I’d heard second babies came earlier so I was going insane for about two weeks waiting. Hang in there. Having two, two years apart, was hard until we found our rhythym and now it’s the best thing ever. They are truly each other’s best friends and their age gap is perfect!
I have some zinnias that are doing great and others that are still small like yours. No idea what I’m doing differently between the two.
I’m hoping that they grow to be good friends! I’ve heard the same about second babies about them coming earlier so I’ve got to get myself in gear to at least get the baby stuff out of the basement and washed. 😂
