Last fall, I talked about all of the research I had done on the Curly Girl Hair Method. Almost six months later, and I’m still following this method. My hair feels healthier than it’s ever felt because I’m not washing it and styling it every day with heat. It’s like my hair is saying, “you’re finally figuring out what we like.” Along my journey, I’ve tried many products. And the one thing I’ve found about the CGM is that my hair is not the same month-to-month. The things that will work for me in the dead of winter with no moisture need to be switched up as humidity starts creeping back up as well.
Here are the products I’ve been loving in the low humidity this winter.
-1- Bounce Curl Clarifying Shampoo :: I’ve found that my hair absorbs and builds up products pretty quickly, so I clarify more often than most Curly Girls. Every 2-3 shampoos, I use this shampoo, and for someone who loves and misses her shampoo suds, this does the trick and smells amazing. I have a feeling I’m going to be using this even more often in the summer.
-2- Bounce Curl Medium Moisture Shampoo :: I was afraid that this shampoo was going to be too much moisture for me, but in the winter time, my hair craves moisture for the curls.
-3- Bounce Curl Cream Conditioner :: I finally found a conditioner that leaves my hair feeling as soft as my old conditioner. Yes!
-4- Cantu Leave-In Conditioner :: I’ve been using this leave-in conditioner from the very beginning. I had a friend stop me at Bar Method the other day asking me what product I used on my hair to get my waves. There wasn’t time to launch into the 8 different products I use for my waves. But I told her that the key to waves is really good moisture. And I feel like us wavies can forget that and not get enough. And it is far too easy for us to overdo it and create build up. I loved this one from the beginning.
-5- ISO Bouncy Creme :: Even more moisture lockers? Yes. The answer is yes.
-6- Innersense Curl Foam :: Another oldie, but my loves. After really good conditioner, this is my second favorite and most important product. A little goes a long way to create waves.
-7- Bounce Curl Light Creme Gel :: I adore this gel. And I’m not alone. It has a sort of cult following, and for good reason. It has amazing hold and moisture without the weight. I imagine in five years when I do a Curly Girl post again, my guess is that I’m still using this gel, as gel #1 in my gel cast.
-8- DEVA Curl Ultra Defining Gel :: In the winter, my curls don’t have as much bounce as they do in the summer months when the air is heavy with humidity. So I added this gel to really set a cast and hold my curls particularly during the dryer months.
I’m getting back on the CGM train after falling off for awhile. I’ll definitely have to check out some of those Bounce Curl products!
You might want to be careful with DevaCurl products. There’s a huge lawsuit forming due to hair damage and hair loss in a lot of users!
Oh no! I haven’t had any problems with them yet but now I’m definitely going to look into it!
