Fall Overalls Try On!

When I was in high school, I loved overalls. They weren’t stylish…at the time. But I wore them. Every single Wednesday. Overall Wednesday. Yes, I was a nerd. Yes, my high school friends still to this day remember Overall Wednesdays and tease me about it. I guess it was just my thing.

Fast forward to today, and lo and behold, the overalls are allegedly in style. (As our parents always say, style comes back around. I really should have hung onto those Birkenstock clogs and overalls.)

So I gathered up three different styles for a little fall try on! See which ones I decided to keep…

Pair 1:

These fit fairly fitted through the top and then had a wide leg.

Lauren’s Favorite Dresses for Summer

Every spring, I find myself on the hunt for some new spring and summer dresses for date nights, dinners with friends, and backyard bbq’s. If I’m honest, I spend almost all of my summer days with the boys wearing sweaty t-shirts and shorts. Running around and keeping up with two little boys lends itself more to the shorts and t-shirt life. But I love throwing on a dress in the summer with some lipgloss to make myself feel more put together for a quick happy hour or date night.

Here’s some of the dresses I’m eyeing for summer!

What’s Up Wednesday {March 2022}

This might be my favorite post of the month. They’re the most fun to go back and read, it’s a little bit of food, a little bit of my Timehop addiction, reading, watching, all wrapped up in one post.

As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

We did steaks over the weekend, Tikka Masala, and Chicken Pot Pie!

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

When we moved into our house. We bought our home several months before our wedding. We had been house searching for close to a year when we finally found our little home. It was such a big overwhelming decision, and I wondered then if we’d love it as much as I thought we would…

Friday Favorites {02.04.22}

I’m sitting in the midst of a playroom that looks like a bomb went off in it. The kids are home for what seems like the millioneth day this past month because of a snowstorm shutting daycare (and the city) down for the day. Another day trying to balance work and taking care of the kids, while Nathan is on calls all day. It feels impossible lately. This phase of life. A period of time where the kids can’t be trusted to just sit and watch movies all day. Where a sickness, snow day, or emergency trip to urgent care (yeah, we had one of those on Monday), hijacks the entire day, and I feel left in a lurch to try to figure out the bare minimum of what needs to be done at work to attend to my number one priority, the kids.

I’m sure it doesn’t get easier after this phase. The hard just morphs into a different kind of hard. But I’ve found myself a lot this month wondering how I can keep up with this. How to make all of the pieces fit together, that are so far from fitting together right now.

Thanks for staying with me, friends. I gathered up a handful of favorites this Friday. Happy weekend!

The Chiefs game result was not a favorite of this past week, but cheering on the Chiefs with the boys this season has been so much fun! While Harrison flips between being a Chiefs fan and a Broncos fan, he’s starting to understand some of the rules of the game. Such a crazy and fun season!

What’s Up Wednesday {08.25.21}

We’re eating MY version of Iowa Girl Eats Cheesy Pasta Florentine, Asian Crockpot Pot Roast (the crockpot is coming back hardcore now that I’m starting to think about fall), and Parmesan Chicken Cutlets with corn on the cob.

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

We’re getting ready for our trip to my parents’ cabin in South Dakota. The last time we were there was 2019, and we looked like this…

Allbirds Love: The Best Shoe I’ve Ever Owned

Today’s post is all about my love of a pair of shoes. Yes, an entire post. For a person who is not a shoe person, I have an undying love for my Allbirds.

It all started when I noticed a coworker wearing a pair of wool loungers, and they were raving about how comfortable they were and washable, that I decided to give them a shot. It was almost summer, so I bought a pair of the slip-on tree loungers, and it was love at first wear. Friends, I am telling you that I have not owned a more comfortable or practical shoe my entire life. I wore them everywhere. They became the fastest shoe I could put on before walking out there, and they were soooo comfy. They went to the park…

The Curly Girl Rules I Break

We were on vacation with Nathan’s family in August of 2019. I was sitting at our beach condo while Harrison was napping that afternoon, scrolling Instagram, and noticed one of my friends talking about switching to the Curly Girl Method. Before I knew it, I was a deep down the rabbit hole of Curly Girl Method research on the ‘gram. I had for well over a decade switched between straightening my hair and letting it naturally be wavy, but this Curly Girl Method of hair sounded intriguing. So that very afternoon, I added loads of different hair products to my Amazon cart, and after coming home from vacation, switched to using the Curly Girl Method on my wavy hair.

For the most part, I’ve loved doing my hair this way. For one, I wash my hair so much less. It saves me LOADS of time during an already busy week washing and drying my hair. Yes, I tend to dread wash day. I try to plan my wash days on days that I have the time to completely dry my hair before scrunching it out and going to sleep. But every non-wash day, it’s a quick shower with a shower cap on, and I’m done for the day.

But the Curly Girl Method (#CGM), has a LOT of rules. When I was first learning about it, and even now when I consider trying a new product, it can be super overwhelming. No drying alcohols, no sulfates, no parabens, no heat. There are a lot of people who follow the rules perfectly. While I try to stay pretty close to them, there are some that I break, and I’m sharing those with you today.

-1- The biggest curly rule I break is that I sometimes blow dry my hair straight and curl it. For at least a year when I was first doing the CGM, I didn’t dare straighten my hair. The fear of undoing all of the work to get my curls to come back and thrive was just. Too. Much. Seriously. I know this sounds crazy to non-CGM peeps, but I was scared that I would ruin all of my time and effort spent in reviving and taking care of my curly hair by using really hot heat.

Friday Favorites {12.04.20}

Remember back in March when the world shut down, we all thought for sure we’d be through this pandemic in a few a weeks? Maybe a month. And all of the germ experts were like….you all have no idea. Buckle up. This thing is likely coming back for a second wave in the fall and winter. And that seemed so impossible and so far away?? And here we are in December. Still in a pandemic. CRAZY. We’ve been through almost an entire year living in a pandemic. It seems like the end is in sight, though. There’s hope that we don’t have another year of this, at least. And I am READY to be able to see my family again.

I’ve got a whole host of FAMILY stuff today. What’s this blog without Jonathan and Harrison pictures? A little bit of style and one of my FAVORITE sales of the year. And just some randomness. Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

Watching these little guys together over the holiday weekend was the best. Four days of Harrison giving hugs to his brother, trying to make him laugh, and fetching his lovie for him when he cried. I love being their mom.

Let’s Look At…Your Summer Wardrobe

If your’e new here, once a month, I link up with two of my favorite blogs (Shay @ Mix and Match Mama and Erika @ A Little Bit of Everything), to share a “look” into some little aspect of our life. Before we get to this month, here’s a peak back at what we’ve “looked” at so far this year:

Today we’re sharing our summer wardrobes. And if you read all the way to the bottom, I’ve got a super exciting thing coming up NEXT WEEK!

I’ve shared in earlier posts that being pregnant and living in the time of COVID (aka – I don’t get out much), my summer wardrobe is laughable at best. Most days I opt for gym shorts and a workout tank. Not having to get dressed up for work each day has been a blessing on the wallet this go around and saved time in the morning.

I’ll share the things that I’ve been wearing regularly during quarantine with my ever expanding belly.
