What’s Up Wednesday {March 2022}

This might be my favorite post of the month. They’re the most fun to go back and read, it’s a little bit of food, a little bit of my Timehop addiction, reading, watching, all wrapped up in one post.

As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

We did steaks over the weekend, Tikka Masala, and Chicken Pot Pie!

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

When we moved into our house. We bought our home several months before our wedding. We had been house searching for close to a year when we finally found our little home. It was such a big overwhelming decision, and I wondered then if we’d love it as much as I thought we would…

I’ve just been thinking about that feeling and the uncertainty and anxiety that came with that big purchase, and now, having decided to move forward with renovating our home. We love this house. We love it’s location the most of all, and finally, after many years of waiting, we are surrounded by families with little kids, which has been so fun watching our kids play together this past year.

I’m excited about this really big project, and all of those feelings of anxiety and a touch of worry are popping up, too. But I feel very at peace with the decision.

3. WHAT I’M LOVING:

Girl Scout cookies. They get me every year. I’m sitting here typing at this very moment with a sleeve of Thin Mints sitting next to me.

And I have flowers back in a few of my pots this spring!!

4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

We’ve done a lot of playing both inside and outside as a family and with friends. It’s felt so normal and good to be able to spend time with friends again this spring.

5. WHAT I’M DREADING:

The budget build up of the renovation. HA! I’ve got champagne taste on a beer budget. Hopefully, it’s not that extreme! But everyone says to expect to pay more and the project to take twice as long. I’m trying to mentally prepare….but I’m not sure there’s a good way to do that.

6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

Pinning all of the home things. Kitchen ideas. Bathroom ideas. Dream outdoor landscape ideas.

7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

Harrison is starting soccer again next month! You all know how much I loved three year old soccer, so I really can’t wait for four year old soccer. Harrison loves soccer so much. Even though they don’t fully understand the concepts and rules yet of soccer, it’s so much fun watching him do something he genuinely enjoys.

I really am truly looking forward to the design phase of our project. That, in theory, sounds like a lot of fun. 🙂 Famous last words!

8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING:

I shared my monthly book review yesterday…

You know we’re still going on Summer House, and it’s FANTASTIC.

And we started WeCrashed the other night on AppleTV about WeWork. It’s REALLY good. Nathan is all in on this one – it hits all of his favorite media content buttons: super successful founder/company story, intriguing main character, really well acted and produced.

9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

And my husband has me listening to the All In podcast now…

And I have to say, I really like it. Very different from what I normally listen to, but he was bringing up this podcast so much, that I finally just decided to start listening to it myself so I had some idea of what they were talking about every week.

10. WHAT I’M WEARING:

Lauren, why don’t you make money from your blog? Because I never take pictures of what I wear, and 90% of the time, it’s from five years ago. Literally the only picture I have from this month is this dress from Marine Layer that I shared a couple of weeks ago.

11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: Our sweet baby J is getting baptized this weekend (finally…#covidbaby). He’s getting baptized with his cousin, Holden, who is 12 days younger than him. We’ve been going back to church this past month for the season of Lent. It’s such a welcome thing to have back in our lives. Jonathan had never been to church, and it just feels really good to be back in that routine again.

12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:

Apparently my vacuum cleaner stint has continued. (COVID became the year+ of the vacuum cleaner in the Lane house. I bought a wireless vacuum cleaner for the first time, robovac, which is a life saver with all of the crumbs two small children produce, and now…an upholstery cleaner.) I spent two hours cleaning our rugs and couches the other week, and it was SOOOOO cathartic and I felt so proud of myself afterwards.

I loved it so much, I started asking people if they wanted to borrow it. Clean therapy, folks.

13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:

Harrison is turning FOUR! It really doesn’t seem possible that it was almost four years ago that we became parents for the first time.

We are really excited to celebrate our high energy, soccer and car loving boy next month!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

  1. You’ll have to share your house projects! Your house is beautiful. We’re currently building, and Pinterest has been my best friend. So much gorgeous inspo on there!

    1. I dream of building our own house some day! That’s such an undertaking but so much fun!! I will definitely share as we go through the project!

  2. These are always my favorite posts to look back on each month too since it seems to cover little snippets of everything that’s happening in our lives. The home remodel will be worth it in the end but having grown up with a step father that was a DIYer it’s not a whole lot of fun to live through. Be prepared for lots and lots of dust, unexpected delays and just try to remember that it won’t last forever. LOL. How exciting to be planning though!

    1. These are my favorite posts too to go back and read! I think we have months of design work ahead of us before demo so I’m hoping I can enjoy most of the summer planting season in my garden before work starts!

  3. I’ve commented before about how much we have in common but crazily enough – our Jonathan (born on 7/29/2020) is also finally getting baptized this weekend too! How funny! Excited to watch the house reno posts soon 🙂

  4. Oh, we are starting to talk about a home renovation but I know I will be so bad at the design part of it. Can someone just do all the work for me please?!?!?!

    1. Ha! Me too! That’s why we’re hiring someone for the design part as well. I at least need someone to tell me if my finishes are going to look ok together. I just don’t have that kind of mind to be able to do it.
