It always feels so strange to be gone for a week from this space! But so good, because I miss it and you all! I’m still working on my blog posts about the beach, so I’m sharing a bunch of random favorites from this week with you all!
In previous years, I’ve always pulled my annuals around Labor Day because we were headed up to South Dakota, and I was just ready to be done watering. That was all when I did the watering by hand every single day. This year, though, I’m still loving the garden and part of it still look really beautiful. It’s definitely starting to fade as we get to the end of the season, and I’m contemplating ways to swap some plants for more cool loving plants for fall.
This zinnia fade still has me in awe…
I love a coral flower, and this one continues to deliver so much beauty.
We went apple picking over the weekend with my sister’s family!
Harrison informed me halfway through picking apples that he does “not look any apples.” Couldn’t even pretend to like apples for the morning. But everyone had fun and we were lucky enough to pick apples on a cool-ish morning that almost, dare I say, felt like fall. What a treat!
I was still really tired from our trip, so when Nathan suggested I take Harrison to his very first movie in a movie theater over the weekend, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get to do something fun with him and relax at the same time.
We finished the whole bag of popcorn, and Harrison LOVED the whole experience!
Can I be honest with you? I really want to be excited about fall, but I’m just not excited about fall yet. I really want to be there with you all, but I still enjoy being able to pick up my children from school and not have to force them into coats and jackets. And the fall colds/viruses….
But, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t grab a fall bouquet of flowers and started burning my fall candle. I can enjoy the fall smells, at least.
And some instagram goodness that hit home over the last couple of weeks…
It’s our last free weekend before soccer starts up again! Of course, I’m sure there will still be soccer played, as always. But I hope you all have a great weekend!
How fun that you already got to go apple picking! My boys aren’t really fans of picking apples so now that they’re older I typically go myself or we just stop in and pick up a bag of apples that have already been picked for us.
I think of all the fruit picking we’ve done this spring in summer, strawberries were the biggest hit with the kids. Right now they can’t even reach the really good apples. But they liked hanging with their cousins regardless.
Apple picking is so fun. Growing up, we living across from Stephenson’s apple orchard and would go often. The bouquet is so pretty! Have a great weekend
My jealousy level just increased significantly. I remember Soooo well going to Stephenson’s for peaches. They were the very very best.
Yes! My mom and dad would make apple or peach pies seasonally. So good! I rode the bus with one of the Stephenson daughters.
