Another WUW! I hope you all have a good week so far. I can’t believe we’re already heading into the holiday season. Halloween until Christmas always feels like a crazy mad dash that happens in the blink of an eye. And I’m not going to lie….all of those influencers putting up holiday decor already….I already bought a few new pieces for our Christmas. They definitely got me with the “buy it before it sells out like it always does” bit! I do love the couple of things I bought, though. I tend to add a couple of new things each year, and retire the decor I’m just not loving anymore.
As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK: We had spaghetti and meatballs on Sunday. It’s a family favorite. I make everything homemade, but make a ton of sauce and a ton of meatballs, so I can freeze a majority of them for easy dinners in the future. 🙂
Then crockpot pot roast and baked potato soup with homemade pretzels rounds out the rest of the week!
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Halloween’s from years past. It’s always around this time that I start thinking about holidays in past years.
3. WHAT I’M LOVING:
This new candle in my office is such a delicious blend of warm vanilla, oak, and apple.
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO: This month, we’ve done a whole lot of watching Harrison play soccer!
Jonathan and I spent a week at home together potty training.
Nathan and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary.
And Nathan worked a lot on the basement project, and we all went to the pumpkin patch as a family!
5. WHAT I’M DREADING: Winter. Honestly, we had two days of below freezing temperatures, and it was enough to remind me that WINTER IS COMING, and I’m not ready for it. It was enough that my Raynaud’s disease decided it was time to remind me how unpleasant it is for me to be in cold weather….Not to mention being stuck inside with two crazy, active little boys!
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON: I’m working on our advent calendar this year. Planning to actually have activities or little presents for the boys to celebrate the season. But being such a planner, in addition to thinking so far in advance, means I’m already making a list of ideas in October. Maybe will do a whole post on our advent calendar soon?!
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT: The Halloween festivities! The boys’ daycare has trunk or treat on Friday evening, and, of course, there’s Halloween on Monday! November 1st is one of my very favorite days on social media to get to see all of the pictures of kids in their costumes.
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING: We just started Winter House!
Who else watches Winter House and is missing Andrea?
And yesterday, I shared what I’ve been reading this past month in my monthly book review!
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: The washing machine running cleaning sheets that there were the unfortunate bystander to a double bloody nose last night….
Do any of you have kids prone to bloody noses when the weather gets cold? What can I do to stop this?! This is the fourth or fifth bloody nose in just a few weeks! We’re already doing a humidifier in his room nightly….
But really I’ve been listening to Taylor Swift MIDNIGHTS on REPEAT. Oh my gosh guys….I love it. So good!
10. WHAT I’M WEARING: Oscillating between freezing cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. I usually end up in some form of a sweatshirt in the morning, and take it off in favor of a t-shirt in the afternoon. Or this cardigan that I’ve had for forever makes an almost daily appearance….
It’s so old…and I still love it so much. That’s how I like my clothes, though! To last season after season after season.
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: We’re doing the boys’ daycare Halloween trunk or treat on Friday night, and then on Sunday we’re going to carve pumpkins and play games with the cousins for our annual Halloween carnival!
12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:
I bought these nicer shoes for Jonathan after his little precious wide foot refused to fit into his Sperry’s. Half the cost and good for a wide footed babe!
13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH: The month of Thanksgiving! I’m looking forward to heading into a slower time at work as we get near the holidays, and enjoying time with the fam.
Happy Wednesday, friends!
Okay those little shoes you found are adorable! May need to snag those for my nephew! Also, SAME feelings re: winter. I am DREADING it! Such a hassle with littles – coats, hats, boots and freezing my back side off loading them in and out of the car!
Amen, friend. The coats alone…the coaxing to get them to put them on alone makes me want to stay in summer for forever.
Adding petroleum jelly to the inside of the nostrils or saline spray in the nose is supposed to help with winter nosebleeds along with making sure to drink plenty of fluids. My oldest son was always quite prone to them (and still is!).
Ah so helpful! We’ll start trying that tonight!
Yay for potty training. I agree…I love Nov 1st and seeing all the Halloween photos. Love your cardigan.
I can’t wait to see pictures of what everyone dressed up as 😀
I’m reading this late, but I do a DIY advent calendar with my daughter (4) every year – in case you need some additional ideas, here are some we do!
– make a Christmas chain, I let my 4 year old cut the paper and glue!
– put a train around the Christmas tree, she then uses it for Barbie’s to ride on LOL
– drive around looking at Christmas lights in PJs and grab Krispy Kreme donuts and hot cocoa
– go to the lee’s summit magic tree and Christmas in the park (do this early. like at 5pm. the line gets crazy – or do this a few days after Christmas)
– watch the lights at Deanna Rose
– Christmas movie (always the Grinch!) while we put up the Christmas tree
– go to union station/crown center to see the trains and while we are at crown center we get a new hallmark ornament each year that we pick out as a family
– then the rest some are easy with a new Christmas coloring book or a small piece of candy, gingerbread house decorating, or icing Christmas cookies
Can’t wait to see your post and add to our list from your ideas!
oh! And we take a target trip and let my daughter pick out a brand new toy for another kiddo and then we take her to a donation bin to donate! a great way to teach about the giving season!
Ooooh. I love so many of these! Definitely going to have them do the paper rings this year. They’d love that!
