Last week at work kicked my booty. And this week has been no walk in the park either. This January has flown by, and I’m not really sure that we’ve done much of anything but here’s a little peek at our January…
As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK: My parents brought me over a smoked pot roast that I’m planning on slow cooking this week as an easy meal. Such a huge help with how busy work has been the last couple of weeks. And later in the week, we’re going to do some homemade burrito bowls with carnitas, rice, and black beans.
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Kids grow up so fast. We all know that. The pictures and videos, though, of Jonathan a year ago at 1.5 versus the little boy in front of me at 2.5 is just wild how much they grow in that year. The way he talks now, understands things and tells us things about his day. It’s just so hard to believe that a year ago we were getting none of that!
His little personality is blossoming big time into such a fun and goofy little boy. It’s such a joy.
3. WHAT I’M LOVING: Coffee from cute new mugs…
Refreshed picture sets on my work desk…
And watching 1923 with Nathan….
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO: Every single year, I feel like we go from the holidays to February, and I have no idea what happened to January. My usual enthusiastic picture taking self seems to always take January off.
We’ve been taking most of January easy. We’ve spent a lot of time at home playing or playing with friends. We’ve watched a lot of football and basketball, and celebrated my birthday.
And really started to try to organize and get things ready for this baby in April! Here’s how it’s going so far…
We’ve got a lot of things to put together and rooms to move around.
5. WHAT I’M DREADING: Nothing in particular. My to-do list just feels extra long right now! (i.e. see picture above)
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON: Lining up painting contractors and picking paint colors for the new nursery, so that we can start to get things settled before our little one arrives. Picking paint colors may be one of my least favorite things ever…the pressure I feel about house decisions is always so big!
What if I don’t like it and then I’m stuck with a wall color I hate?? What if I hate the furniture/rug/fixture and it’s a huge pain in the butt to return and unassemble?? Does anyone else have this fear?
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT: Harrison and Nathan are going skiing next week, and I’m really excited to hear how it goes. Harrison has been talking about skiing again ALL YEAR. He loved every minute of his time with his dad last year and learning a new skill.
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING: I posted my January book review yesterday! I read two books this past month…or more.
And as far as what we’re watching, we’re catching up on Yellowstone, and have been loving the prequel to it 1923.
And a couple of weeks ago, we watched The Last of Us which just started on HBO.
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: Currently silence. And it’s magnificent. After I sent my fighting children off to school.
10. WHAT I’M WEARING: Lots of oversized sweaters and sweatshirts! I told Nathan the other day that I don’t remember ever being this big and feel like I couldn’t possibly get any bigger…and he assured me that I definitely got bigger in the last three months of the previous two pregnancies. And I was nowhere near as big now as I was at the end of those. #truth. This sweater from Amazon has been my fav so far this pregnancy…
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: Shuttling to kids’ birthday parties and hanging with my boys at home!
12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH: It’s not a new find, but I did re-stock on my meal planning notepad. I’ve loved this one for years because you can tear off the grocery list on the right and take it to the store with you.
13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH: We have some more family birthdays next month, and I’m looking forward to hopefully being almost done with winter. 🙂
Happy Wednesday, friends!
I actually love picking out paint colors and home décor. I usually find an inspiration piece for the room (for our nurseries it was usually the mobile or the bedding) but some item that I absolutely love and pull all colors and inspiration from. Plus as much as a pain as it can be to change paint color I know it is cheap and I don’t have to live with it forever. I always go neutral for flooring so that I can easily swap out wall color and other décor items since I tend to crave that sort of change every few years. You look adorable with your little baby bump!
Joanne! I need you to come pick paint colors for me! I wish I had the eye for it like you. It’s a gift!
Love your birthday cake pic! It’s a good one. Can’t wait to see the new little one’s room. The father / son ski trip sounds so fun. I bet they will have a blast. I feel the same way about January. Slower pace and not many photos. I hope you are having a better week and getting rest.
The boys insisted on putting on the “right” amount of candles onto my birthday cake. 😅
Haha so sweet. Hadley randomly put 6 on mine this year. That was enough for me 😂
I love that meal planning note pad and will have to keep a reminder of it when my latest one runs out. Also, yes, where did January go?!?!?!
