What’s Up Wednesday {09.25.19}

My sister and I just got back from our trip to Charleston – one of my favorite cities in the US! I’ll blog more about that soon. We’re back to work today, and back into normal everyday life. I’ll miss the cocktails, amazing food, and shopping, but I sure am happy to be back home with my boys.

I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

The boys were on their own the first couple of days, but here’s what I have planned for the rest of the week:

The Black Hills – Part 2

We spent a week over Labor Day up in the Black Hills at my parents’ cabin. The Black Hills are near to my heart – they have always been my family’s “place.” My grandparents lived in South Dakota my entire life, so Kendra and I spent at least one week every year back up in the Hills visiting grandparents.

Last week, I blogged Part 1 of our trip to the Hills this year. So, today I’m sharing even more pictures from the latter half of our trip.

Friday Favorites {09.13.19}

This seems like the first real Friday of the fall to me. It’s a Friday the 13th too! Friday the 13th’s (is that even a word?) used to always kind of creep me out, but then God gave me Harrison on a Friday the 13th. I always think about that now when a Friday the 13th comes around. Maybe they’re just a little bit special and lucky in the Lane house thanks to a little munchkin who changed our lives on just such a Friday.

I’ve got another round of random Friday Favorites of things that brightened my week today linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea!

The Black Hills 2019 – Part 1

The Black Hills in South Dakota are my home away from home. A piece of my heart belongs to those Hills. My parents are from Rapid City, SD, which is the city at the base of the Black Hills. They moved to Kansas City before Kendra, my sister, or I were born for better career opportunities, but both of my sets of grandparents still lived in South Dakota. My mom’s parents built a cabin in the Hills when I was super young, so we went back to visit our grandparents and stay in the Hills at least once a year over the course of my whole life.

A Wish for the Cousins…

If you follow along here, or on Instagram, you’ll notice another little blondie that shows up in MANY of our adventures around this house.

This little girl:

This is “Cousin Evie” as we call her around this house. Everly is my sister and brother-in-law’s daughter. She is a little more than a year older than Harrison, and they live in a suburb of Kansas City about 30 minutes from us. Evie is Harrison’s only cousin right now.

Friday Favorites – Favorite Summer Memories Edition {08.30.19}

It’s the last Friday Favorites of summer. With the cooler temperatures we had last weekend, and heading up to the Hills this weekend to visit my parents, I’m mentally ready to take the step into Fall.

I thought it would be fun to look back on the summer slightly different this Friday with a round-up of my favorite summer memories this year.

We had such a fun summer. Harrison was into EVERYTHING this summer. He was interacting and starting to talk, napping less, exploring the world, and it made summer so fun!

What’s Up Wednesday {08.28.19}

I’m not sure where this month went. We’ve been enjoying the last little bits of summer, and prepping for a trip up to my parents’ cabin over Labor Day! Today, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in the Lane’s life.

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

Nathan’s traveling for work again this week, and we’re getting ready to leave on our roadtrip up to South Dakota to visit my parents, so I’m going to be keeping this week sooooo easy. Like “hello prepared food section” of the grocery store. So, if you’re looking for a little inspiration, I’ll share last week’s meal plan 🙂

A Boy and His Dog

Today is a very important day around the Lane house. It’s National Dog Day. I posted this picture on Instagram a couple of weeks ago.

(Not so) Little Miss Sawyer was my first baby. She’s my shadow. And she was one of the greatest blessings in my life. It may sound crazy, but she gave me the confidence that maybe someday I could be a good mom. She has loved me through some truly difficult times.

Friday Favorites {08.23.19}

Some of you are all, “I CAN’T WAIT FOR FALL! Crisp air, leaves changing, pumpkin spice. Cozy sweaters.” But I’m all over here hanging on to summer. This summer seemed to go so fast. And I’m only in a small bit of denial about it coming to an end. In two more weekends, I’ll embrace fall fully. Don’t you worry. 🙂
