Happy St. Patrick’s Day, friends! Have you ever tried explaining what St. Patrick’s Day is to a four year old? It’s really quite difficult and confusing. You have to wear green, or people can pinch you. Well, you shouldn’t pinch your friends. But that’s what you’re supposed to do. Even though you should keep your hands to yourself.
Either way, we’re going to celebrate with some green waffles and marshmallows, wear our green, and call it a day.
Let’s do some Friday Favorites!
The nursery has been getting painted this week!! I truly feel like this is the latest I’ve ever pushed getting “settled” before a baby comes. I’m hoping that once I have a place to decorate and put all of this little one’s things, that I’ll get myself in gear to finish getting out the rest of the baby things…like the bouncer…swing…swaddles…bottles…pacifiers.
I can’t wait to share the nursery with you all! After the baby arrives…because the nursery will give away whether Baby #3 is a boy or a girl.
My littlest guy asked me on a date night last week, so we headed off for a date night with just him and me to Freddy’s for milkshakes, fries, and burgers. I love this little one-on-one time with the boys. Full attention to be silly, listen to whatever is wandering through their minds at the moment. I love that they think it’s special to get to go out on a date with Mommy.
This past Monday was pajama day at school. The boys love pajama day. They carefully picked out what jammies they wanted to wear the night before. And the next morning when they saw Nathan and filled him in that it was jammie day at school, Harrison promptly goes, “Daddy, you’ll have to wear just your underwear to work for jammie day.” It had both Nathan and me dying laughing. Touche, kid.
I always love sharing when I find a recipe that our family likes. I try new recipes about once a week. My motto is that you can’t find your new favorite unless you try something new. I made this delicious and easy Butter Chicken from my fav recipe supplier Half Baked Harvest, and the whole family loved it. No joke. I know, I was shocked, too. I skipped the “spicy-ness” due to my very tame taste buds and my 4 year old and 2 year old, and it was still fantastic. Served with steamed jasmine rice, warm naan, and hummus.
About a year ago, I started doing my best to give up mom guilt for taking time and money to do things just for myself. Things that made me feel energized and like a person outside of my job and being “mom.” I squeezed in a facial this past week with my very favorite aesthetician and good friend. A really good facial with a top notch aesthetician is one of my very favorite ways to spend some “me” time.
Happy Friday, friends! Hope you all have a great one!
What a special date night! We ate a Freddy’s when we were in Colorado; that is one chain we had NEVER heard of before. Can’t wait to see the nursery!
Haha. I had no idea that Freddy’s wasn’t a national chain yet!
I can’t wait to see the nursery. Hayden and I had a date at Freddy’s recently too…the Friday night we lost power 😆I’m so glad you took time for yourself! Have a great weekend.
