Isle of Palms

A Travel Diary

I’m just going to be upfront about it. I inadvertently took a hiatus last week. Like a ‘life got in the way, and I didn’t have the time to write the posts I had planned’ kind of week. I can’t imagine it will be the last, but I’m so happy to be back sharing a bit about my trip to Charleston and Isle of Palms that I took with my sister!

We had the BEST time eating, drinking, popping down alleyways and side streets couple of days in the South. I’m going to share trip details a bit differently than I have in the past. We had SO. MUCH. FUN. And kept remarking how strange it was to be only responsible for ourselves and our stuff. We were feeling light as a feather, and on the search for some of our favorite Southern Charm castmates while we were at it 🙂

Today, I’m going to talk about Isle of Palms, and tomorrow , I’ll cover our time in Charleston.

EAT

Acme Lowcountry Kitchen – Hello phenomenal shrimp and grits. It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Lauren.

Papi’s Taqueria – Delicious little taco joint with a cute roofdeck right on the beach. Margs – on point. Tacos – particularly the seafood tacos – even better. Cute little beach shack – a hundred percent.

The Obstinate Daughter – Technically on neighboring isle, Sullivan’s Island, Obstinate Daughter was a super easy Lyft ride from Isle of Palms. Kendra and I loved walking up and down the main street in Sullivan’s Island before dinner, and ogled some of the beautiful mansions on this private little island before popping into the Obstinate Daughter for dinner. It was delicious. Particularly their brussel sprout appetizer. Plus side – there’s a cute little gelato shop underneath the restaurant for after dinner.

Sea Biscuit Cafe – You know your little beach cottage turned restaurant shop is good when they are the last restaurant in the universe to accept cash only, AND there’s a 40 minute wait to be seated. But let me just say, the biscuits alone are worth it.

PLAY

We did this for two days:

And this…

And when we were done with that, we did this:

It. Was. Awesome.

Isle of Palms Beach Chair Company – We did rent beach chairs and an umbrella for our time at the beach. They were all set up and ready to go when we arrived, and it worked out perfectly!

SLEEP

The Palms Oceanfront Hotel – The hotel was, in my opinion, perfectly fine. It was right on the beach with beach access from the hotel which was really nice. But frankly, I could take or leave the rooms. They were clean and cool, but there were only plantation shutters on the windows, and this girl loves some blackout curtains in a hotel room.
