Fall House Tour

It’s my third installment in all things FALL! And today is a VERY important day too. It’s our Sawyer girl’s birthday! She’s 5 years old today! We’re going to celebrate with a special treat and extra pets and hugs from the family. Maybe even a round of fetch outside. But I wanted to share our next installment in all things fall!

First, I shared our family’s Fall Bucket List.

Last week, I shared my go-to fall transitional clothing.

This week, I wanted to share a house tour of our house decked out for fall! There is nothing that makes me feel more ready for fall than a house with fall decorations, a fall candle burning, and snuggling underneath a warm blanket in the evening.

Most of our fall decorations have been accumulated from a variety of stores and boutiques throughout the years. Anything that’s still in stock, though, I’ll link below:

What’s Your Enneagram Personality?

I’ve been seeing it all over social media accounts that I follow. I’ve been hearing about it from Podcasts I regularly listen to. I’ve wondered what it means when people hashtag 3×5. What is this enneagram thing? And is there anything to be gained from it?

Enneagram Overview

I’m going to give you the most simplistic version of what an enneagram is ever. I’m not an expert, and there are LOADS of people out there that are and have spent considerable amount of time developing content around enneagrams, so if you have a true interest in delving more into this topic, I’d take to the internets. 🙂 But, the way that I understand it is that enneagrams are just another personality type. There are nine different enneagrams, aptly labeled 1 through 9. Most people fit into a dominant personality type with sub-personality types, thus the 3×6 or 5×4 classification.

The Black Hills – Part 2

We spent a week over Labor Day up in the Black Hills at my parents’ cabin. The Black Hills are near to my heart – they have always been my family’s “place.” My grandparents lived in South Dakota my entire life, so Kendra and I spent at least one week every year back up in the Hills visiting grandparents.

Last week, I blogged Part 1 of our trip to the Hills this year. So, today I’m sharing even more pictures from the latter half of our trip.

Friday Favorites {09.13.19}

This seems like the first real Friday of the fall to me. It’s a Friday the 13th too! Friday the 13th’s (is that even a word?) used to always kind of creep me out, but then God gave me Harrison on a Friday the 13th. I always think about that now when a Friday the 13th comes around. Maybe they’re just a little bit special and lucky in the Lane house thanks to a little munchkin who changed our lives on just such a Friday.

I’ve got another round of random Friday Favorites of things that brightened my week today linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea!

Fall Transitional Clothing

It’s September. And in my mind, September equates to fall. Fall weather, fall clothes, cozy fall soups and blankets.

Last week, I shared our family’s Fall Bucket List.

This week, I’m sharing my favorite fall transitional clothes. As I’m writing this blog post, though, it’s sunny and 90* out today. Ninety. I’ve got a fall state of mind: wanting to dress with all of the rich, warm colors of fall, but still be comfortable in a state that’s stuck in summer weather. Here are some of the items in my closet that I’m reaching for over and over again right now as we transition into fall:

The Black Hills 2019 – Part 1

The Black Hills in South Dakota are my home away from home. A piece of my heart belongs to those Hills. My parents are from Rapid City, SD, which is the city at the base of the Black Hills. They moved to Kansas City before Kendra, my sister, or I were born for better career opportunities, but both of my sets of grandparents still lived in South Dakota. My mom’s parents built a cabin in the Hills when I was super young, so we went back to visit our grandparents and stay in the Hills at least once a year over the course of my whole life.

Friday Favorites: Stunning Garden Performers and Duds {09.06.19}

One of the hardest parts about the beginning of fall for me is taking out the annual plants in my garden. I always have the best of intentions of taking pictures of everything so that I can keep track of what really took to its growing spot and exploded, versus performed average to sad, sad underperformers so I never buy them again.

Sadly, I so rarely remember to take pictures, and then I end up repeating some of the same mistakes as the last year….BUT, not this year. I put this topic on my blogging calendar, which means I’m actually going to stick to it. So here it is – my favorite garden performers this year:

Our Fall Bucket List

Pumpkins, chili on the stove simmering all day. Cozy sweaters and warm blankets. The constant drone of football on the TV, and the scent of vanilla and cinnamon in the air. Oh fall, you can be such a wonderful and magical time of year to cozy up and enjoy family.

I truly love fall. A lot of wonderful things have happened in our lives during the fall – Nathan and I get engaged in the fall, and married in the fall. I have wonderful memories of when Nathan and I first started dating doing fall time activities, and I love the coziness of autumn.

A Wish for the Cousins…

If you follow along here, or on Instagram, you’ll notice another little blondie that shows up in MANY of our adventures around this house.

This little girl:

This is “Cousin Evie” as we call her around this house. Everly is my sister and brother-in-law’s daughter. She is a little more than a year older than Harrison, and they live in a suburb of Kansas City about 30 minutes from us. Evie is Harrison’s only cousin right now.
