I could sing the praises of October from here until Sunday. I always forget leading up to it how much I love October. The cooler weather it brings beckons our family outside. We live our best lives when we’re outside. We went to the pumpkin patch this past weekend. We didn’t just skimp and only hit up one pumpkin patch, but TWO in one weekend. Because, why not? Seeing Harrison have so much fun running around on Kansas (or Missouri) farmland, Loving all the rocks, sticks, and corn, and finding a pumpkin that’s bigger than he is and trying to pick it up. Well, it just fills my whole heart with joy. As simple as that.
Little man sat in the corn pool for sooooo long. He walked himself to the middle, and promptly plopped down and played while the big kids jumped in and out of the pool around him and made corn angels. This little guy sat and observed, and happily played – even taking home a few kernels for later. 🙂
He’s always finding a little rock or stick along the way, and collecting them to be thrown down for a BETTER looking rock or stick later.
We ate apple cider donuts and a picnic lunch with our friends. It was a beautiful fall day at the patch.
Saturday we got up early and headed north in the drizzle and overcast skies. We arrived in Weston, Missouri just as the farm was opening for business and the rain had moved out. The overcast skies and cool temperatures made for the perfect autumn day with our Cousin Evie.
With lots of farm animals to check out, including a baby calf, and a ride into the pumpkin patch on a wagon pulled by a tractor, it couldn’t have been more picturesque.
Hidden in the patch, the kids found a pumpkin with a preying mantis on it. Upon Evie’s suggestion, the preying mantis was named ‘Cutie.’ Meet Cutie, everyone.
We came for just one pumpkin, but left with beautiful memories and more pumpkins than I knew where to put once we got home. A beautiful day on the farm with my favorite people.
