I’m not sure where this month went. We’ve been enjoying the last little bits of summer, and prepping for a trip up to my parents’ cabin over Labor Day! Today, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in the Lane’s life.
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Nathan’s traveling for work again this week, and we’re getting ready to leave on our roadtrip up to South Dakota to visit my parents, so I’m going to be keeping this week sooooo easy. Like “hello prepared food section” of the grocery store. So, if you’re looking for a little inspiration, I’ll share last week’s meal plan π
- Sunday: A Harrison favorite – Baked Ziti and salad – recipe coming soon!
- Monday: Leftovers!
- Tuesday: A Nathan favorite – Chicken Taquitos with Mexican rice
- Wednesday: Leftovers
- Thursday: I had
bookwine club, so the boys grabbed Chipotle - Friday: Dinner out
- Saturday: Smoked pulled pork, salad, fresh watermelon – One must properly celebrate the end of summer with our last Splashin’ and Smokin’ Saturday of the year!
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
I’m such a Timehop addict. You know – the app that shows you pictures from that particular day from years past? I’m such a sucker for a good Timehop. Especially of baby Harrison. How we used to spend our mornings of maternity leave like this:
I have so few pictures of “the wall” – now known as the Patio – while it was being built. Three years ago, though, the wall looked like this:
And now, it looks like THIS:
I gave a virtual tour of the Patio HERE. Our patio is my favorite “room” of the house. It brings me so much peace.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
TAYLOR SWIFT’S NEW ALBUM!!!
It’s on repeat. Over and over and over again.
We also had some baby hummingbirds this year coming to our hummingbird feeder. Harrison points them out every time they show up when we’re in the kitchen. He’s gotten to watch baby robins, a cardinal nest, and hummingbirds this year. That’s a BIG bird year around here – and the kid’s only 1 year old!
And this meme:
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
I feel like we’ve been gone most of the month. We spent the first week of August at the beach with Nathan’s family. I blogged about our vacation HERE. We had so much fun watching Harrison fall in LOVE with the beach for the first time.
The rest of August, we’ve just been bumming around KC enjoying summer – park dates, pool dates, and even a trip to the Farmstead to see the animals.
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
The 12 hour drive to my parents’ cabin that we’re going to try to do in one day. Ugh. Pray for us!
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I’m starting to work on prepping the gardens for fall. Starting to take my annuals out and pack up the summer pots and containers. It takes me about four days – a couple hours a day – to get everything cleaned up, so I spread it out over about a month to make it more palatable. π
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Getting some time with my parents in the Black Hills. The Black Hills are my family’s home away from home, and it’s the place where my soul, mind, and body feels the most at peace – even while running around after toddlers. And I am so stinking ready for a glass of wine on my parents’ porch with this view:
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
Guess what guys? I’m still reading the same book as last month….just as expected! Only now I’m probably 20 pages further than last month. (This is why I was, and still am, a horrible book club member. π At least they still let me come.
And right now, we’re watching a whole lot of Bravo.
Give me all of the reality TV shows. π
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
See above. π Taylor Swift. On repeat. So catchy, so good!!
Favorite songs:
- I Forgot That You Existed
- The Man
- Paper Rings
- London Boy
Harrison’s favorite songs:
- ME! (Check out my Instagram highlights for our dance party to Taylor π Love that little guy so much!)
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
My AllBirds. All the time. They’re my go-to shoe right now – if they can be remotely be considered appropriate for my day, they are on my feet. If I’ve met you, and I haven’t told you about how AMAZING they are, I’m shocked. Because I feel like I should be paid commission on the number of people I’ve told about this shoe. AllBirds – you can reach me any time – contact info on blog. π
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Nathan and I have a wedding Saturday for two of our friends in KC, and then we are doing the loooooongest drive up to South Dakota on Sunday.
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
In addition to time at the cabin, I’ve got another little trip planned with my sister just the two of us, to get away for a few days without the husbands and without the babies. It’s the first time we’ve EVER done this, and I AM PUMPED!
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
Harrison is starting a new daycare in September, so those of you that are praying the type, I’d sure ask for some prayers for a good transition and that he loves his new teachers.
What’s up with you?
I’ll be praying for you and Harrison! You are going to have so much fun in SD and on your girls trip with your sister! Sisters are the BEST!! Love it! I feel the same way with books. Some months I read several and others I look back and realize I’m still reading the same book as before! lol! I think for myself, some of it is being a toddler mom and some is just choices. π Happy Wednesday!
Thanks girl for the prayers! I’m sure he’ll do great, but it’s always daunting to make such a big change.
