This might be my favorite post of the month. They’re the most fun to go back and read, it’s a little bit of food, a little bit of my Timehop addiction, reading, watching, all wrapped up in one post.
As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Aside from leftover pizza galore, I’ve made carne asada tacos this week, and chicken gyros. May round out the week with some stuffed peppers.
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
Past Harrison birthdays…This was his first birthday. His only truly ”normal” birthday…
It’s so fun getting to watch him enjoy the celebration. It feels like it’s been awhile because COVID shut everything down before his second birthday, that we really got a chance to celebrate him. He had a few friends over last year in early spring after we were vaccinated, but it wasn’t a true birthday party.
This past weekend, he got to have his first real birthday party with his friends from school and the neighborhood, and he had so much fun!
3. WHAT I’M LOVING:
You guys. I’m obsessed with this cookbook.
I’ve never loved a cookbook so much. I usually buy cookbooks, cook one or two recipes out of them, and they go on a shelf never to be looked at again. But this cookbook is solid gold.
Everything we’ve tried so far has been AMAZING.
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
It feels like we’ve spent all month celebrating Harrison’s birthday! Zero complaints, because I love celebrating our little man!
We also had such a wonderful Easter. The boys were so spoiled with Easter baskets from grandparents, multiple egg hunts, and Easter egg dying. They (and we) had so much fun!
5. WHAT I’M DREADING:
Mulching the garden beds. It’s one of my least favorite tasks every spring, and every spring Nathan asks me if I’d rather pay a company to just do it for me, but I don’t trust anyone but myself. Ha!
With all of the planting and gardening I do, I only trust myself to make sure they are properly mulched and not mulched over….which I can see happens sometimes when you use a company. So I’ll be hauling around bags of mulch for the next month as I plant.
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I did absolutely zero garden planning for this spring, so I’m frantically trying to piece together things that I want to plant in the gardens this spring. We weren’t sure whether renovation construction would start this summer, and thus make it not worth it to plant a garden, but it’s looking like the earliest we can hope to start construction would be the fall…so here I come garden centers!
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
Our April felt absolutely nuts. It felt like we were constantly going and going, and I’m hoping and excited for a bit more relaxing May.
And of course I’m excited about all things garden related and getting my hands in the dirt ASAP!
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING:
We were a waaaay far behind in all things TV related. We just finished up Cheer last week. Neither Nathan or I were very pleased with the ending…but, oh well.
And if you want to know what I’ve been reading, check out my book club post yesterday!
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
I’ve been playing Thomas Rhett’s new album the past couple of weeks. Feels perfect for the spring and summer days outside ahead!
10. WHAT I’M WEARING:
This spring has been soooo cold. I’m still wearing all things winter. It’s all old. You guys know I’m not about buying new things every single season. I need my stuff to last!
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
We have kids’ birthday party this weekend, and Harrison’s soccer game! I love watching him play. It’s truly so much joy watching your kid do something they enjoy.
12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:
For the first time in years, I don’t have an untanned back thanks to this purchase…
And these are still my go-to’s for self tanning body and face!
13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
I’m looking forward to Mother’s Day and time with my family. Lots of soccer games for Harrison, and gardening outside! Hoping that the cold days of this spring are finally behind us!
Happy Wednesday, friends!
We’re still wearing all the winter clothes here too; though once in a while it warms up enough for flip flops or a short sleeved shirt just to tease us.
Come on real spring!!
I’m so excited to garden too!!! I mostly grow annuals and take care of our perennial beds.
I couldn’t hold off on buying annuals, and now I’ve been hauling them in and out of the garage for weeks when it’s dropped too cold at night. I do this to myself every year. 🤪
I love all the birthday celebrating. So fun. I also love your church outfit …the skirt and sweater look so pretty together
I thought the skirt and sweater was nice because it was still warm enough for our cold spring weather but looked more “spring-y” 😆
Love it. Perfection
