Once a month I link up with two of my favorite blogs (Shay @ Mix and Match Mama and Erika @ A Little Bit of Everything), to share a “look” into some little aspect of our life. Here’s a peak back at what we’ve “looked” at this year:
- In January, we looked at our coffee stations.
- February, we looked at our love languages
Today we’re talking about the perfect night in. And haven’t we all had plenty of nights in this past year? Hahaha.
I love a good night in. I am a HOMEBODY to my very core. I prefer staying at home with my favorite people in the world than any night out. It feeds my soul to get in my comfies, curl up on the couch, and snuggle my boys. Point being, it’s my happiest place in the world.
I thought I’d share my favorite way to spend a night in in three different ways…
My Favorite Night In with ALL of my Boys:
My favorite night in starts early in the day with a looooong family walk outside.
It involves lots of playing in the backyard, kicking the soccer ball around, and a cold drink during afternoon naps.
And it ends with burgers on the grill or something delicious cooking in the smoker, and sitting out on the patio and eating with the whole family.
My absolute favorite days at home with my family are spent entirely outdoors.
My Favorite Night In with My Guy:
This is really simple. When it’s just Nathan and me, I like cooking together. One of Nathan’s hidden talents is his propensity to pick out really good recipes. I love when he picks something out that’s a little out of our comfort zone, but sounds delicious. Spend the afternoon and evening cooking something together, enjoy a nice cocktail in the early evening on the patio, and catch up on a binge-worth TV show after dinner.
The last time we did this has to be like…at least three years ago pre-Harrison. When date night usually rolls around and our kids can actually go stay with their grandparents, we tend to go out.
My Favorite Night In with My Girls:
My favorite type of night in with my girlfriends involves a whole lot of wine and a whole lot of games. I miss friends. I can’t remember the last time we got to do this…certainly pre-COVID. Nothing makes me feel more re-set than a night full of laughter with friends. Absolutely no uncomfortable pants allowed. Only leggings or sweats.
I’m curious, though, what’s the first night OUT you want to have post-COVID?
Travis and I have had a few date nights out recently. We typically would go to dinner with friends, or meet for a drink and then go to dinner. The 3-4 times we’ve been out together recently, we’ve just gone with the two of us and stay out at our seats and come straight home. We are probably gone 1.5 hours …tops but at least we were able to get out just the two of us
Ahhh. I can’t WAIT to do that again. We haven’t been to eat at a restaurant in over a year. 😆
In January, we had a random night with no kids…and Travis mentioned going to a restaurant. I said, “Are people doing that?” 😂🤪
🤣🤣🤣
All 3 of these events sounds so fun! I love the idea of cooking with your husband. Have a great day!
We’ve all had lots of nights in this past year, haven’t we? 🤣
Ahhh girls nights are so missed & needed right now!! I miss my besties! I’d love to get out for a concert or baseball game too 🙂
Oh my gosh me too. Nathan and I were wondering the other day when we thought we’d go to the first indoor concert. I miss all of those things! But especially seeing girlfriends.
Sounds perfect!! I am a homebody, too!
