Boston Recap! Part One
This winter, Nathan and I were debating on whether it was time to take Harrison on his first big vacation. Nathan had the super smart idea that each of us would write three places that we wanted to go, and we would draw one – and that’s where we would go for our first little Lane family vacation. And the winner was…..BOSTON!
I had never been to Boston – so I was so excited to explore a new city. We decided that Harrison’s first trip – and first airplane ride could only be made better by inviting Nathan’s parents – Gigi & Pops. We asked if they’d be up for the trip, and I don’t think we even finished asking before they had agreed! So we were off!
I came as prepared as I possibly could for our first big plane ride with a VERY active lap child.
He napped a little bit on the plane, and I relished in every minute of getting to hold him through nap time, but by the end of the day, we were ready for FREEDOM and space!
The only thing that we would have changed was choosing the direct flight option the next time around. We thought it would be better to break it up for his attention span, but I think we all just wished we would have gotten there as fast as possible. Lesson learned. 🙂
We arrived at our hotel mid-evening. While we all unpacked, and I put Harrison to bed, Nathan made a trip to Whole Foods to pick up breakfast items and snackage for our little man. Gigi and Pops went out to stroll the city and grab a bite, and Nathan and I both breathed a sigh of relief when our little guy was down, and we ordered in room service.
Day 2 we were ready to get up and explore the city! We started the day with bagels and a walk through Boston Public Garden!
Harrison thought the ducks were particularly interesting. Had to keep him from jumping in the “wa-wa” with them!
After a lot of walking, we grabbed lunch at FLOUR and ate at a small park.
Then it was time to rush back to the hotel for Harrison’s nap for us, while Gigi and Pops explored more of the city. After nap time, we all met up for some seafood on the water, and then headed out on the harbor for sunset cruise and tour of Boston. A perfect way to end our first full day in the city!
We were already starting to fall in love with this place, and our new little traveler was taking it all in like a seasoned pro.
