It’s the last Friday Favorites of summer. With the cooler temperatures we had last weekend, and heading up to the Hills this weekend to visit my parents, I’m mentally ready to take the step into Fall.
I thought it would be fun to look back on the summer slightly different this Friday with a round-up of my favorite summer memories this year.
We had such a fun summer. Harrison was into EVERYTHING this summer. He was interacting and starting to talk, napping less, exploring the world, and it made summer so fun!
Our very first trip as a family of a three! We headed up to Boston with Nathan’s parents (Harrison’s Gigi and Pops) to spend a week exploring the city! I wrote about our trip in Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3! We can’t wait to go back and visit Boston again – it was the perfect first vacation destination for us!
A new tradition was born – Splashin’ and Smokin’ Saturdays with Harrison and Evie. We spent most of our Saturday afternoons at the pool with cousin Evie (and her parents), and came home to delicious smoked meats prepared by Nathan – ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chicken. I loved this simple little tradition we started 🙂
Our beach trip to Blue Mountain Beach, Florida with the Lane family! Watching Harrison experience the big “wa-wa” and the sand for the first time was priceless. I wrote about our trip HERE.
Finishing “the wall” as we lovingly nicknamed it, this summer. The patio project has been Nathan’s labor of {mostly} love for three years, and it was finally finished this year. We all enjoyed having a beautiful outdoor space to live in and play in this summer.
My favorite of the whole summer, though, was Fridays with Harrison. In the spring, I started taking Fridays off to spend with my little guy. We’ve gone on walks, splashed, played at the park, helped do laundry and grocery shopping – and while it’s my most physically demanding day of the work week, it’s my absolute FAVORITE. Watching my little guy explore, learn new things, and get complete JOY out of collecting sticks, fills me with so much gratitude to be entrusted to be the mama to this little boy.
Summer 2019, we had so much fun. Thanks for taking care of our little family so well. 🙂 Ok, Fall. We’re ready for you.
Goodness, so many awesome memories and moments! I love that back patio – what a dream. And what a fantastic trip to Boston! My family lives about 2 hours North, and Boston has a special place in our hearts. Have a beautiful weekend!
We were so pleasantly surprised how much we loved Boston – the city, the people, the food, the things to do. We’ll definitely be going back! Thanks for reading!
