Ya’ll. This weekend it was so stinking hot here in the midwest. And as I write this, the rain has finally come in and cooler weather ahead. I like the summer, but wow. That heat. And humidity. And stickiness. Yikes. But enough about the weather…that’s not why you came here.
I’m still enjoying looking back at pictures from my Dad’s visit here earlier this week. Most of the year, my parents live in KC, but they live in the Black Hills in South Dakota during the summer. I know we are unbelievably blessed to have our parents nearby so much. But man, do I miss them when they are in South Dakota. These littles sure do love their Papa.

It’s the final day of my recap of our Boston trip. Boston was the first trip that we took as a family aside from visiting family, and we had the BEST TIME. Nathan’s parents, Harrison’s Gigi and Pops, came with us. This was the final day of our trip, and it was the Fourth of July! In Boston! I can’t think of a more perfect place to be on the Fourth. Sweet little boy, time is just going so fast. You are constantly having “conversations” with us, running around exploring, and finding joy in the seemingly ordinary. You are absolutely obsessed with “wa-wa,” including realizing that you can turn on the sink in your daycare room. Much to your teacher’s chagrin, you’re also teaching all of your friends how to get in on the wa-wa fun too.

This winter, Nathan and I were debating on whether it was time to take Harrison on his first big vacation. Nathan had the super smart idea that each of us would write three places that we wanted to go, and we would draw one – and that’s where we would go for our first little Lane family vacation. And the winner was…..BOSTON!
I had never been to Boston – so I was so excited to explore a new city. We decided that Harrison’s first trip – and first airplane ride could only be made better by inviting Nathan’s parents – Gigi & Pops. We asked if they’d be up for the trip, and I don’t think we even finished asking before they had agreed! So we were off!

Typical day posts are some of my absolute favorites. I love getting the peak into what life looks like for other families. This is our first typical day post – and I was a little nervous that I would forget mid way through the day to take pictures. Luckily, we made it through the whole day – with full documentation. Not an easy task!
