What’s Up Wednesday {01.31.24}

First What’s Up Wednesday of the new year! You all know that this is my favorite post of the month. I love to go back and read these as a little scrapbook in time of our lives. A little bit of reading, wearing, family, and work all in one post!

As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK: I have a confession to make. I was very anti-Cozi family calendar. It got to a point, though, where it was really difficult to track who was responsible for which kid/activity/driving/babysitting/all the things that goes along with keeping track of a family in our work Outlook calendars. So, I gave Cozi another shot. We’ve been using it for four months now, and I love it. Including using it to track our meal plan each week.

This week, we’re doing Sheet Pan sausage and veggies, Chicken Taquitos, and Creamy Broccoli Cheddar Chicken.

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

Aidan turned ten months old this past weekend, and man. All of sudden, that first birthday seems REALLY close. And it feels like yesterday that he was this small.

And now we’re here…

I don’t remember the other babies’ first year going as fast as this one seems to have gone!

3. WHAT I’M LOVING: Having my children at school/daycare multiple days in a row. Ha! I love having the boys home, but wow, it’s really hard to work and have them home. January has felt like a marathon month of sickness, snow/ice days, school holidays….and I need like a full week of a normal routine.

Here’s Aidan’s “don’t you just want to play with me instead of work?” look

And yet another trip to the doctor….this time for an ear infection.

4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

Surviving. That’s been the story of January. Just survival.

We’ve enjoyed our Chiefs football games, and the basement has been clutch this winter.

Nathan and I have managed two date nights this month. My birthday date night ended in a phone call from the grandparents that one of our children had thrown up…multiple times. (Sorry to Gigi and Pops for ruining red sauce for you both.)

Baby Aidan started daycare, and loves it, but does not love to nap at daycare.

And all of the snow…and ice…and did I mention that my children just didn’t go to school this month? Or at least it felt like it.

5. WHAT I’M DREADING:

Another month or more of winter and sicknesses. How many times in one post can I say how sick I am of children being sick? And the snow….and the ice…? Where is spring?!

6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON: A few things….one of which I’ll cover in a post on Friday. BUT my current project involves getting baby stuff ready to be consigned.

It feels good to be de-cluttering from baby stuff, but wow, the memories attached to so many of these things. Going through and keeping only my absolute favorite things as memories, and then moving the rest of these on to the next family to enjoy.

7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT: SPRING. Flowers, warmer weather, playing outside, ice cream. I AM READY FOR SPRING!!!

8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING: I just finished watching the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion…..and oh my goodness, I can’t get over how CRAZY Monica is…woooow.

And currently, I’m reading A Killer’s Wife…and it’s GOOD.

9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: Same as above. 🙂

10. WHAT I’M WEARING: Workout clothes. Nothing but workout clothes. And this quarter zip from Target…

Size up…a lot. I got an XL based on the comments.

11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: I’m having dinner with a friend – YAY! And baby Aidan is getting baptized and we are celebrating January birthdays with my family!

12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:

The toilet tank basket is bringing me great joy this month. So much so that I ordered two more for our other bathrooms in the house. Haha.

13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH: Some small semblance of better weather, and celebrating Nathan’s birthday!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

  1. Oh those long winter months where it seems like everyone is sick are the worst! I was told this morning at the gym that we have 6 more weeks until the clock changes and I thought that sounded doable (long but doable!). I hope February treats you kinder than January did!!

    1. Six weeks doesn’t feel bad at all! I heard a bird singing this morning, and that’s always my first sign that spring is coming.
