It’s time for a little monthly roundup. I’m typing away while Aidan is snoozing at naptime. I thought we were over the naptime struggle a few weeks ago, but he surprised me by going back to protesting pretty much all naps starting when we were in South Dakota. You’d think that eventually he would just wear himself out! But he’s a stubborn little one.
As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK: I made Half Baked Harvest’s Butter Chicken last night. This is the second time I’ve made it, and although I seem to be on streak of not cooking my onions enough, I think it’s a keeper of a recipe. We’re doing cobb salads tonight, and then to be determined for the rest of the week!
2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
The cooler weather in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The high humidity and 100+ degree heat has me missing our week in the Hills.
3. WHAT I’M LOVING: I started adding this to my morning coffee…
And it’s quite frankly delicious.
When my Dad turned me onto it months ago, I asked him what MCT oil was for, and he responded that he “couldn’t remember” but remembered reading that it did something good. I’ll leave you all to do your own research. 🙂
4. WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Sometime over the last month, life sped up DRAMATICALLY. It’s the end of July, which means summer is practically over and I’m about to send my oldest baby off to Kindergarten in a few weeks.
But this month we have been BUSY.
We started our month visiting my parents in the Black Hills over the Fourth of July with my sister and her family.
We had the absolute BEST time.
I went to potentially the best concert of my life thus far :). Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour…
I used to be embarrassed for loving her, but no more. I’m a diehard Swiftie.
We had a new shed installed in our backyard, and I struggled to pick a shed (and eventual house) color.
Nathan surprised me another concert to see Kip Moore. Our first official date night post-baby!
We had a storm come through KC with 80 mph winds. Our power was knocked out for daaaaaays…so we house hopped from my parents’ KC house, to my sister’s, to my in-law’s.
And then we just got back from a trip to the Lake with friends! So many babies in one house!
And so many adults 🙂
5. WHAT I’M DREADING: The end of summer…and the end of maternity leave. It’s still a little more than a month away before I go back to work, but we’ve reached that tipping point where I definitely feel like it’s coming to an end.
And I’m going to miss my little guy.
6. WHAT I’M WORKING ON: Something SO exciting. We signed a design contract to redesign and remodel our kitchen!! I’m collecting all of my ideas and saved Instagram posts trying to figure out the perfect kitchen for us!
7. WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT: I’m really excited for the kitchen project. I’ve been DREAMING about a different kitchen since we moved in, and it’s finally going to happen. And I am ready!
8. WHAT I’M WATCHING & READING:
I’m so deep into White Lotus. I’m behind the times, but it has me captivated.
And Nathan and I have been watching Full Swing on Netflix. It’s like it combined one of my favorite things (reality TV) with one of Nathan’s favorite things (professional golfers) into one show. And it is actually so interesting and entertaining.
I only read one book this past month, which is why I didn’t do a book review….But it’s because I was so consumed listening to…
9. WHAT I’M LISTENING TO: …the Witch Trials of JK Rowling.
I haven’t binged a podcast that fast since I listened to Serial years and years ago.
10. WHAT I’M WEARING: I still rarely get out of athleisure. I will not regale you with pictures of my mom bun and leggings. But that’s my life right now.
11. WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND: There’s a very important birthday this weekend. BABY J IS TURNING THREE! Fastest three years ever. We’re celebrating with tacos and cake!
12: FAVORITE AMAZON FIND THIS MONTH:
Given that it was Prime Day in July, I’m going to give you two…
this rolling sport equipment cart is making my month. Instead of balls, mits, bats, etc just laying all over our garage floor, they now have a place. And we can roll out the cart onto the driveway to play, and then roll it back into the garage when we’re done.
And these cheap sunglasses I bought for the lake maaaaay just be my favorite pair of sunglasses I own. And they certainly worth every last bit of the $13 they are right now.
13. WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH: Aside from the fact that I’m also dreading change, I’m truly excited for Harrison to start Kindergarten. I think he’s going to thrive. It’s just his mom who’s boo-hooing on the sidelines realizing that we’re passing yet another milestone of childhood. And it’s all just going way too fast.
Happy Wednesday, friends!
My favorites in this post: the adorable pic of all the babies, yay and YAY for the kitchen remodel and Omygosh! the J.K. Rowling podcast! I can not wait to talk this one with you!
Good luck with Kindergarten – time is going by crazy fast. Good luck with the kitchen remodel! I’m sure it’ll be beautiful and you’ll love it. Have a good rest of your summer!

Yay for a kitchen remodel! One of the things I need to do this summer is find a contractor so we can renovate our house. A new kitchen is desperately needed, as well as a few other things. Yikes…
We’ve only been talking about renovating for like…four years. It’s so hard to pull the trigger on something so big!
I feel like summer is flying right by too! It sounds like you have a very full month. I love all those shed colors that you picked to try and can’t wait to see the new kitchen.
Shed painting is happening this weekend! Nothing like picking a 100* heat weekend to do it.
Right along with you in those feelings, mama! My girl starts Kinder next month and I’m so excited for her, scared for the change, nervous from taking her away from the preschool she’s been at for almost 3 years. such a new era for us!
Motherhood. Such a rollercoaster of emotions. So much fun watching them grow up, but wow, it’s also so hard realizing how fast it goes, too.
I tried to reorder the MCT oil powder and it’s unavailable. Have you found a substitute?
