Lanes Lately {May 2022}

I was wondering what I should write about today. I had a weird assortment of things that were on my mind, or I wanted to share with you all. So a Lanes Lately post was born! Hope you guys had a good weekend!

MAKING: Chicken gyros with homemade taziki sauce. You guys. These are SO GOOD.

Taziki sauce recipe HERE + Chicken recipe HERE.

This recipe tastes like summer. It’s light, yet filling, crisp, and absolutely delicious.

WEARING:

My new joggers. Oh my goodness, they’re so comfortable and just the best. They wash well, and are still the absolute softest pair of pants I own. I’m usually between an XS and S, and sized down with the XS so they’d wear a little tighter and athletic.

And AllBirds. I love Allbirds so much, I did an entire post on them. While the picture is old, trust me they’re worn pretty much every day. I just rarely take pictures with my feet in the picture…

LOVING:

Watching the boys’ relationship really start to blossom. Sure, I’m constantly telling Harrison to “give Jonathan some space,” and Jonathan that there’s “No hitting or biting. We take a deep breath and walk away when we’re frustrated.” But you know, that will come with time, I suppose.

USING:

A lot of dishsoap. We had intended to replace our dishwasher as part of our remodel. But it finally bit the dust. We were hobbling along with only one lower rack, the upper one having broken and Nathan refused to fix it given its imminent replacement. Then a couple weeks ago, I noticed water leaking out the bottom of the dishwasher. Thankfully we have tiled floors in the kitchen, for the time being. But we’ve had the same issue once before, and it was a costly repair that, at this point in time, didn’t make sense to do again. So, I ordered a new dishwasher. And now we wait. And sigh heavily any time we make a meal that has a lot of dishes.

DRINKING:

Currently, WATER. I can’t remember at what point I became a big water drinker, but I went from a barely any water drinker to a prolific one. And I have to say, I feel so much better drinking more water than less. My general rule of thumb is to finish a full waterbottle of water (that’s three cups) before I have any morning coffee.

ENJOYING:

This Book. Oh man, it is good. I’m only about halfway through, but I am in. to. it.

Ok, so did I convince you to try the chicken gyro recipe? I hope so. It really is that good, guys.

  1. The gyro looks so good! That’s a bummer about your dishwasher. My mother-in-law has never had one in her house which is mind blowing to me. I need a dishwasher. I’ve gotten better about drinking water too…but I have to force myself some days to do better at drinking it

    1. My mouth is literally gaping with the thought of never having a dishwasher. Especially while raising kids. The amount of time it takes is crazy!

  2. Oh I just LOVED the Alice Network! We use our dishwasher so much that it is the most replaced appliance in our house; no joke we go through them like crazy no matter what brand or price point we try it only ever lasts a handful of years but it is sill well worth it to me. I hope you get your new one in soon!

    1. I literally just finished the Alice Network. So good! It has me researching all about women spies in the world wars. ☺️

  3. I was going to do Greek Salad bowls tonight, but I may just stuff it all in a pita and copy your meal!
The Alice Network was a good one.
I like water too, in my opinion it fixes most ailments.

    1. We’ve just recently started eating more Mediterranean/ Greek food at home, and I’m wondering why we took so long. It’s so good!!
