Let’s Look…Favorite Traditions

It’s the time of each month where I link with other blogs to share a little peek into some small aspect of our lives. I can’t believe this is our last link up of the year! This year, we’ve shared…

This month, we’re sharing our favorite traditions.

I’ve written about some of our traditions in the past. For example, for Halloween, we celebrate with the cousins doing a Halloween carnival!

My sister and I have a couple of games that we remember from the school carnivals we would go to around Halloween that we always had so much fun with. We do fishing for prizes, a Halloween egg hunt, and a “cake” walk.

For Thanksgiving, our one standing tradition is “biscuits on the prairie” for Thanksgiving morning breakfast.

This year we had a few extra guests for biscuits and gravy, so I tripled the recipe. 😊

For Christmas time, we welcome George, the elf, to our home for the month of December.

My parents (Mimi and Papa) always buy the kids, including the cousins, matching Christmas jammies. And we wear them ALL SEASON LONG.

They’re always from Hanna Andersen, and the nicest jammies the kids get all year. This year’s jammies look like…

I always make two different holiday time recipes. My dad’s Chex Mix…

And homemade cinnamon rolls…

I usually give most of them away to family and neighbors.

Christmas Eve, we go to church. Of course, last year church was online…

And we open our Christmas gifts and Santa gifts on Christmas morning.

Sometime around the new year, I take all of our Christmas cards we received over the season and pray over each person and family.

Those are just some of our traditions. What are your favorite traditions throughout the year??

  1. I love the Christmas pjs ❤️ & those cinnamon rolls look divine! I was just thinking that I’d read about someone who prayed over the Christmas cards they received but couldn’t remember who. It’s you! I love that and want to do that same this year. ❤️

    1. I started praying for each family a few years ago. Love it because it helps remind me of all our friends that I don’t pray specifically for often enough.

  2. We each get a new ornament that we open on Christmas Eve; we have quite a few traditions, but this is likely my favourite.

Those cinnamon buns look DELICIOUS! I have never made a batch (not sure why?!), but a good cinnamon bun is hard to beat. I envy the lucky recipients.

    1. My husband’s family grew up with each person getting a new ornament each year. When we got married, we got all of his ornaments for the past 20+ years of his life. He still has more ornaments than any of us on the tree! 😊
