What’s Up Wednesday {08.25.21}

This might be my favorite post of the month. They’re the most fun to go back and read, it’s a little bit of food, a little bit of my Timehop addiction, reading, watching, all wrapped up in one post.

As always, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

We’re eating MY version of Iowa Girl Eats Cheesy Pasta Florentine, Asian Crockpot Pot Roast (the crockpot is coming back hardcore now that I’m starting to think about fall), and Parmesan Chicken Cutlets with corn on the cob.

2: WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

We’re getting ready for our trip to my parents’ cabin in South Dakota. The last time we were there was 2019, and we looked like this…

First Day of School 2021

Monday was Harrison’s first ‘official’ day of school! While he’s still at the same daycare, he moved classes on Monday and officially started his ‘preschool’ programming on Monday. Harrison’s been looking forward to this day for MONTHS because he was so excited about wearing a uniform to school like some of his older friends!

Every morning for months, he’d want to wear his uniform polos, but finally, on Monday, he got to put on his uniform for the first time. And he was SO PROUD.

We got up, and made a special breakfast of green ‘good luck’ waffles to start the morning.

Harrison was thrilled. Not only was he getting his favorite breakfast, but they were GREEN. A real three year old crowd pleaser. 😊

Amazon & Target Lately

I’m sharing some of the fun things I’ve ordered from Amazon and Target lately!

Magnetic letters || Waffleknit Shorts Jammies || Stroller fan || Portable high chair || Pouch lids || Waffleknit Long Jammies

Harrison’s been working on his letters at school, and we bought magnetic letters to work on them at home! Loved this option because they don’t have that choking hazard small loose magnets on the back like the ones we used to have when we were kids.

Jonathan is ONE!

My sweet little Jonathan Brooks turned ONE, and last weekend, we celebrated as a family our baby boy! I was determined to have a real party, with a theme to celebrate our littlest Lane.

We originally set out to celebrate both cousin Holden & Jonathan’s birthdays together…

But my sister decided to cancel having Holden’s at the same time at the last minute due to some other time consuming things going on in their lives.

So, we just celebrated baby J!

Let’s Look At…Everything Phone Related

It the monthly link-up with two of my favorite blogs:  (Shay @ Mix and Match Mama and Erika @ A Little Bit of Everything) to share a little look into something random in our lives. Today’s topic is…Phone Apps!

Before we get to everything phone related, let’s take a look back at what we’ve shared so far this year…

Today, we’re talking all things phone related. Including most used apps.

I did a whole post earlier this year on my favorite and most used apps. But by far and away, my most USED apps, aside from email, are Instagram and Timehop…

Kansas City Tourist: Kid Friendly Activities

A few weeks back, a reader asked me for suggestions about where to eat in Kansas City when they came to visit, and it got me thinking that I wished I had a post to refer them back to with all of my favorite “touristy” activities in Kansas City. I’ve lived in Kansas City almost my whole life. There was a brief seven years when I moved to Michigan for college, and then North Carolina for grad school, but for the most part, KC has been home.

I’m going to break this down into parts, and today, I’m going to talk my favorite kid friendly activities in KC!

Being a mom to a toddler and a baby right now, there are some activities that just don’t work for them quite yet because they’re too young to appreciate it, so I’m denoting with an asterisk next to the activities that are really more appropriate for older kids only.

Indoor Activities

Wonderscope :: An entire “museum” for kids. There’s pretend play set-ups, building stations, water play activities. It is a kids’ dream place to play and learn!

Friday Favorites {08.06.21}

We’re in the final countdown of summer like so many of you! The new ‘school year’ officially starts in a couple of weeks. Harrison will officially be in preschool and required to wear a uniform. It feels like yesterday he was a little baby and preschool felt light years away.

Baby J’s first birthday was last Friday, and we celebrated by taking the boys to ice cream in our neighborhood shopping center!
