Friday Favorites {04.02.21}

This week turned into a dumpster fire. Jonathan’s class at daycare closed after one of his teachers tested positive for COVID. Harrison came home on Wednesday evening with hives all over his body, so we kept him home the rest of the week. There was also a full time job in there that after being gone all last week needed all of the work things from me. I kept thinking to myself, “Seriously? Could there be anything else?” Don’t tempt fate, though. 😊. We made it to the weekend. I’m so excited for Easter egg hunting with the babies. What are your favorite Easter traditions?

We have an eight month old in the house! Jonathan is so close to crawling, and for the time being, army crawls EVERYWHERE. Nathan and I both looked at each other last weekend when he made his way all the way over to Sawyer’s water dish, and agreed we needed to refresh our baby proofing procedures. Time for the gates to come back out, food dishes off of the ground, and re-locking those cabinet drawers. You can read my letter to my eight month old HERE.

What’s Up Wednesday {03.31.21}

After a full week last week of pretty much constant rain, it gave way to a beautiful weekend. Nathan went golfing for the first time in over a year, we played outside for hours on end, and even got to spend some time with my sister and the cousins.

Today, I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

  • Saturday: Cheesy Pasta Florentine

Dear Jonathan (v. VIII)

My goodness. Happy eight month birthday, little one. Your little light brightens up the whole room. Your patient demeanor and the way you sit back and take in the world makes me wonder what you think of all these crazy people around you.

You’ve made me a better mama, learning a new little personality. Admiring your thoughtful and easy-going personality. You have me so eager to see what games you will like to play, what will interest you about your world. You’ve made my heart grow even more than I could have imagined it would grow. So very blessed to be entrusted to raise you, little boy.

I wish I could just hold on to your sweet little baby-ness for forever. It just moves way too fast.

Love,

Mommy

Friday Favorites {03.26.21}

I took this week off from work. After a rough busy season, I took the first opportunity to get some time away to just do the things that I enjoy around home. Trips to the garden center, an unexpected day with Harrison, and running errands. My mind feels relaxed for the first time in months, so for that, I’m so very thankful.

If you followed along in my stories this week, you know that Harrison was home sick on Monday. He had run a fever on Sunday, so needed to be fever free for 24 hours to go back to daycare. Harrison was thankfully feeling better for most of the day, and it turned out to be unexpected, but so much fun Harrison & Mommy day. We took walks, ran a few errands, played in the backyard, baked, and ended our day with a walk to get ice cream at our favorite neighborhood ice cream shop.

I’ve realized as of late how truly incredible this tiny human is growing up to be. He’s one of the coolest people I know, and spending the day just concentrating and playing with him was absolute joy.

Easter Fun

Easter is not CANCELLED this year. I mean, it wasn’t cancelled last year, either, but it felt like it. We had our Easter outfit ready, brunch plans, and BAM. COVID. Easter at home. I remember Easter well because none of us changed out of our pajamas last year, and I thought to myself, “Well this is going to make for some really memorable pictures.” See…

Mom forgot to buy an Easter basket, so Harrison collected eggs in Dad’s baseball cap. And we literally looked like this alllll day. But this year, I’m ready. I’ve got the treats, I’ve got the baskets, and even better, we’re going to be able to see my parents for an Easter egg hunt because #covidvaccine!

Bye Bye COVID

It’s been well over a year since we all first heard of COVID-19. It’s been a bit over a year of quarantining/self-isolating/social-distancing. And late last week, Nathan and I were lucky enough to get our first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. I finally went to bed for the first time in over a year breathing a little easier. Knowing that we were on the path to not having to live in fear and anxiety of this virus.

This past year was truly unbelievable. If I hadn’t lived it, it would be hard to believe. As this chapter feels like it’s coming to an end, I wanted to chronicle here formally what this past year held for us as we navigated really hard decisions for our family, missed holidays and birthdays, bringing a new little boy into this world, and doing every day life so much different than we had ever done it before.

March 12, 2020: My work team packed up all of our work items, and left our client’s site for the last time. It would be the last time that we would be back on site with our client. This is the first weekend that we “social distance” as a family, but we still send Harrison to daycare the next week as we come to the realization that it may be better to have him home with us later that week.

Friday Favorites {03.19.21}

It sure seems like lately I keep thinking back to what life was like a year ago. How much anxiety and fear I had of the virus, making hard decisions to take Harrison out of daycare, not knowing how long it all would last. I remember wondering when the “new” normal would feel normal. It’s always amazing to me how eventually you look back at it, and realize you no longer obsess over it every day, and it has become a part of the normal. I’ve got a few random things that have made me smile this week for you all…

I love the way that Harrison is challenged when he moved up into a new class. The other day, they sent me a picture that the kids were learning the importance of cleaning up messes they helped make. Sign me up. Harrison has always loved helping clean up, but I love the lessons they are teaching him at school.

Let’s Look At…The Perfect Night In

Once a month I link up with two of my favorite blogs (Shay @ Mix and Match Mama and Erika @ A Little Bit of Everything), to share a “look” into some little aspect of our life. Here’s a peak back at what we’ve “looked” at this year:

Today we’re talking about the perfect night in. And haven’t we all had plenty of nights in this past year? Hahaha.

I love a good night in. I am a HOMEBODY to my very core. I prefer staying at home with my favorite people in the world than any night out. It feeds my soul to get in my comfies, curl up on the couch, and snuggle my boys. Point being, it’s my happiest place in the world.

I thought I’d share my favorite way to spend a night in in three different ways…

Allbirds Love: The Best Shoe I’ve Ever Owned

Today’s post is all about my love of a pair of shoes. Yes, an entire post. For a person who is not a shoe person, I have an undying love for my Allbirds.

It all started when I noticed a coworker wearing a pair of wool loungers, and they were raving about how comfortable they were and washable, that I decided to give them a shot. It was almost summer, so I bought a pair of the slip-on tree loungers, and it was love at first wear. Friends, I am telling you that I have not owned a more comfortable or practical shoe my entire life. I wore them everywhere. They became the fastest shoe I could put on before walking out there, and they were soooo comfy. They went to the park…
