Learning the Curly Girl Hair Method

I’ve started using the Curly Girl hair method, and I think it may officially be my most favorite hair style yet.

Let me back up…

I always knew I had wavy hair. Like the kind of hair that you can’t just walk out of a shower and let air dry and it magically is straight or curly kind of hair. Through middle school….high school….college….post-college life…ok, so I don’t change my hair much, I switched between straightening it and wearing it curly – like that gel-ly, ‘your hair still looks wet’ curly that was ever so popular in the early late 90’s and early 2000’s.

Let’s Look At…Your Fall Recipes

It’s one of my favorite days of the month – a little link up with Shay and Erika to look at different aspects of everyday life. This month’s topic, though, has me all sorts of excited to get some new ideas and recipes for this fall! We’re sharing favorite fall recipes! I tend to go back to the same recipes over and over again that I know Nathan and Harrison will love. So I can’t wait to add in some new meals!

I live by crockpot meals in the fall and winter. There’s something so nice about putting everything in the slow cooker before work and coming home to a completely prepared meal with ONE DISH to clean. Amen to that. While I tend to do a lot of pot roast, chili, and pulled pork in the fall, I wanted to share the most FALL recipe in my recipe box. Our Pumpkin Bread recipe.

The Words I Wish I’d Stop Saying

The other day, I caught myself saying it again. It just comes tumbling out of my mouth before my brain can even process what I’m saying. It’s so habitual…and I’m pretty sure I’ve been saying it for as long as I can remember. I am constantly apologizing for existing in the same space as someone else.

Let me explain…

I round a corner at work, and someone is walking in the opposite direction. I apologize.

I’m washing a dish in the work kitchen, and someone comes up and is waiting for the sink. I apologize.

I go to open a door and someone is on the other side wanting to walk in. I apologize.

Now I’m not saying that apologies shouldn’t happen. BECAUSE THEY ABSOLUTELY SHOULD. I think if more people could be good at apologizing, the world would be a better, kinder place.

What I’m saying is why am I apologizing for my existence in a particular space. Especially when I haven’t done anything wrong? Maybe “excuse me” would be a more appropriate thing to say in these situations. But “I’m sorry” just seems wrong. I’m not sorry for existing.

I’m not sorry for trying to open a door that you are on the other side of from me. I’m not sorry for having walked slightly in the same direction as you. Somebody start holding me accountable. Ok, blog. You can hold me accountable.

All About…Pregnancy

I’ve told you all before, but I’m a Timehop addict. And right now, I’ve got pictures popping up on my Timehop of my pregnancy with little Harrison. It’s been two years since finding out I was pregnant with our little guy, and I still think back to that time in my life reflecting on the things I wish I would have known. If I could just go back and tell that younger Lauren Lane, and actually have her believe me and take it to heart, what would I have told her about pregnancy?

At my baby shower with my mom and sister

I would have told her that…

Our Trip to Charleston

A Travel Diary

This time last week, my sister and I were getting home from a fun girls trip to Isle of Palms and Charleston! This was my second time to Charleston, and I absolutely did not regret going back for round two. There is something about this city with its window boxes, cute houses and alleyways, and the BEST FOOD, that has me all sorts of wrapped around its Southern little finger.

Yesterday, I talked all things Isle of Palms, and today we’re talking Charleston!

Isle of Palms

A Travel Diary

I’m just going to be upfront about it. I inadvertently took a hiatus last week. Like a ‘life got in the way, and I didn’t have the time to write the posts I had planned’ kind of week. I can’t imagine it will be the last, but I’m so happy to be back sharing a bit about my trip to Charleston and Isle of Palms that I took with my sister!

What’s Up Wednesday {09.25.19}

My sister and I just got back from our trip to Charleston – one of my favorite cities in the US! I’ll blog more about that soon. We’re back to work today, and back into normal everyday life. I’ll miss the cocktails, amazing food, and shopping, but I sure am happy to be back home with my boys.

I’m linking up with Shay and Sheaffer to share with you what’s going on in our life lately!

1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

The boys were on their own the first couple of days, but here’s what I have planned for the rest of the week:

Prepping Your Gardens for Fall

In the gardening world, getting ready for fall and winter is my least favorite time of year. Thankfully, the beautiful leaves make up for some of the sadness that comes for me when another summer season is over, and I have to clean up my flower beds.

I’m sharing today a list that I use to get my gardens and shrubs ready for the fall and winter months:

Friday Favorites: My Loft Favorites

As we speak, Kendra, my sister, and I are on a plane heading out for a girls trip. And I. Am. So. Pumped! We are going to lay by the ocean, eat enough food that we have to unbutton the top button of our pants, and drink all the southern cocktails while we secretly scope for the cast of Southern Charm. 😉 Follow along over on the Insta.

Today, I’m linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share some of my latest Loft loves! Loft has long been my go to for work tops. I love the quality of the material, that they are machine washable AND dry, and that they’re so easy to dress up for work or dress down for a weekend or date night out.
