Let’s Look At…The College Years

It’s ”Let’s Look” day, where I share a little peek into a random part of our life. I’m linking up today with two of my favorite blogs (Shay @ Mix and Match Mama and Erika @ A Little Bit of Everything), to share a “look” into some little aspect of my life.

Last month, I shared what we ate in a week.

This month, we’re sharing a bit about our high school and college years. I loved this prompt. It took me down a happy rabbit hole of looking at pictures, and thinking about the Lauren of college and how much I’ve changed.

Technically this prompt was let’s look at the high school and college years…but it’s pretty clear looking back at my Amazon Cloud drive that I failed to save very many high school pictures/they’re probably all printed pictures that never got scanned into digital format.

I went to college at a small liberal arts college in Holland, Michigan called Hope College. Undergraduate population of 3,000 students right off of Lake Michigan. It was the most fun four years of my life. I met some of my very closest friends to this day, and I’m forever grateful to the education I received and the genuinely good and kind people I met at Hope.

Let’s Look…At What We Eat in a Week

I love joining this little monthly link-up with random prompts to share a small aspect of our lives. I missed January while we were in the depths of surviving having two kids home with COVID. The prompt related to organizing in the new year, and I can assure you if I had written that post, it would have said, ”I’ve organized nothing. I’m just surviving.”

But this month is about what we eat in a week!

Given that we have a toddler and preschooler, what I eat is pretty much whatever is left on my kids’ plates that they refuse to eat. #parentsoflittles

Every morning, the boys wake up and have toast and yogurt. Every day. And this is the bread I swear by. It is GOOD.

There was a point in time during the pandemic where it was impossible to get, and I can attest, this bread is hard to replace.

It’s the time of each month where I link with other blogs to share a little peek into some small aspect of our lives. I can’t believe this is our last link up of the year! This year, we’ve shared…

July, I shared the most horrendous bathroom organization tour ever
For August, I shared my favorite phone apps and phone case
September, I shared how I meal plan, including my favorite meal planning notepad
October, I shared a truly uninspiring look at our unfinished basement. I mean our holiday storage.
And in November, I shared our holiday meal menu.

This month, we’re sharing our favorite traditions.

I’ve written about some of our traditions in the past. For example, for Halloween, we celebrate with the cousins doing a Halloween carnival!

My sister and I have a couple of games that we remember from the school carnivals we would go to around Halloween that we always had so much fun with. We do fishing for prizes, a Halloween egg hunt, and a “cake” walk.

Let’s Look At…Meal Planning!

I’m back! It was so good to step away for a little bit and get out of KC for a little bit and see my family. I’ll recap South Dakota later on this week, but today is the monthly link-up where we share a little look in to a random part of our lives.

First, let’s look back at everything we’ve shared this year.

Today, we’re sharing how we meal plan!

Every Thursday, I take thirty minutes of my day to plan out our meal plan for the next week. I take a look at our calendars, what activities we have going on during the week and any weekend plans, and figure out the number of meals I need to plan to cook at home.

I use this meal planning pad that has a magnet on the back to plan out our meals. Usually, I end up cooking three nights a week, we do take-out on Fridays generally, and then we have leftovers the rest of the nights.

Today we’re sharing our backyard organization. My backyard is my favorite part of our whole house. It’s peaceful and serene, and it’s our very favorite place to be at home, especially this time of year.

When we originally moved into this house seven years ago, the only thing in the backyard was this screened in porch…

Today we’re sharing a look into our pantry and fridge. I’m going to share a little about what I find I put in our cart every week to get us through the week. We have the very simple basics of bread and milk. I have thing for Dave’s Killer Bread White Bread Done Right, though. I’m not sure if it’s weird to have a favorite bread, but I will literally go to a different grocery store to procure this bread if Whole Foods is out. 😆

Today we’re talking about the perfect night in. And haven’t we all had plenty of nights in this past year? Hahaha.

I love a good night in. I am a HOMEBODY to my very core. I prefer staying at home with my favorite people in the world than any night out. It feeds my soul to get in my comfies, curl up on the couch, and snuggle my boys. Point being, it’s my happiest place in the world.
